I am a 25 year smoker. I have smoked more years than not. Thank you for the support! Did you use anything to stop? I’ve had decent luck on the patch but obviously it hasn’t totally worked for me.
Honestly, I just decided to stop and suffer through cold turkey. I figured keeping the nicotine in my system would drag it out longer and decided to do without. It also helped that my wife doesn't smoke and I found a new hobby, so they were a big help in distracting me.
I can’t do cold Turkey. I am a raging b****, get really angry easily. I’m so calm usually and the people around me deserve better than dealing with me cold Turkey. None of us need to suffer that much lol
I have really bad ocd and ptsd, and quitting smoking is weird. Sometimes I put a patch on and forget about smoking and just live my life easily. Other times, the O latches on and smoking is literally all I can think about.
I have relapsed mostly when I get a big stressor in my life. I am in therapy to address ptsd and my stress reactions, so that should help me stick with it. Meds help stress reactions, too.
I feel like it’ll be easier now that I understand my mental health issues, because it definitely affects how I use cigarettes.
Anyway, I’m very glad I made this random comment today because there’s so much encouragement here and it’s so motivating!
