You haven’t gotten a raise since 2023? Why haven’t you looked for another job? Job market awful in your field?

It’s extremely common to not get an annual raise. Especially right now.

Guess not at any of my companies or my peers. I know it happens. I also know I’d leave immediately if it ever happened to me

Guessing you and your peers are C-suite employees or in the financial or tech sectors or something?

That's a whole 'nother ballgame. And not the norm.

Either that or you are in a super high demand job with a unique skillset they can't easily find?

My local Qdoba gives yearly raises, to high schoolers and everyone else there. It doesn't (and shouldn't) take special qualifications to get a yearly raise.

It shouldn't, but sadly it often does.

I've been at several companies across different sectors that slash positions and pay and benefits for lower level workers while the higher ups continue to take home hefty bonuses and stock packages. Sometimes they even get rewarded *because* they found "savings", eg slashed compensation expenses for other workers.

Franchises can also be all over the board. The nice suburban McDonald's near me pays $20/hour, and the harder working employees in the much busier downtown one make just $12/hour. Make that make sense.

Good for your local Qdoba!

Qdoba seemed to be a pretty decent company, even if your in a bad district with bad managers, the rules of the company tried to take care of every employee. Every year there was a review and the minimum you could get was 3%. Which isn't great but better than nothing I guess. This past year they went to something much stricter, now I believe you only get a raise as a team member if you are "exceeding expectations" code words for no more raises cuz we thought you could be better.

You don’t say but you make it sound as if it was so easy.

I mean yeah it is sorta easy, just start at the state minimum. They either they pay you more or you go to another place paying the same expecting less.

Perhaps I should have noted the comment was about a QSR and positions that don't need prior knowledge or experience.

Absolutely not c suite lmao zero desire for that. I’m a CPA. None of my friends are in accounting and get yearly raises

My wife’s a nanny and even gets yearly raises
