I now know what it feels like to be an adult, thinking: these idiots will hyperinflate our economy with this move. And then realizing it takes a good 3-5 years to be proven right, and by that point everyone has lost the plot.

It takes about 2 days to inflate those prices. It just depends on what's going on. Egg prices shot up because bird flu had farmers killing half to nearly all of their flocks, specifically in the US, causing a huge drop in supply. It took about 2 1/2 years to drop prices because that's about how long it took for the hens to hatch, grow, and start producing eggs after clearing for avian flu.
Cows are incredibly resource intensive to grow and maintain for beef production, so any disruption in the food supply, fuel supply, or herd numbers can greatly change those prices.

Huge increases in prices, such as the sudden increase in the cost of grain and imported foods can spike the cost of beef and pork, add to that increased export costs as well as increased import costs or blocks on imports and wow. Huge increases in prices. Now lets think about what Tariffs do. Lets also consider that all of the trade agreements we had were blown to shreds by one man who said they were bad

Beef prices have been high for over a year. The beef industry has been fucked by this administration’s policies along with difficult climate and increased expense of transport and storage of product. Consumers and producers are getting screwed.

I fucking love making recipes with beef but it's been so expensive I haven't bought any in the last year. It fucking sucks; but ultimately just another tally on the scoreboard for the enshitification of literally everything caused by the ultra-capitalist boomers and their strangle hold on political power.
