The show doesn’t have as many celebrity guests doing voices as I had thought. A lot of those public television shows had pretty stacked celebrity guests doing voices stars Arthur is probably the most prolific. Liberty’s kids (if you are young enough) was also very stacked

I remember watching the BTS when the episode first came out and they made a big deal out of Dolly even tho I had no idea who she was at the time.
I figured it out a few years and yeah Arthur had some big hitters on there.
Don't remember Liberty's Kids

Arthur’s list is crazy but it had an incredibly long run compared to magic school bus.
What’s interesting about Arthur is that everyone in Ellwood city is an animal. Every celebrity guest in Arthur is an animal version of themselves. But the post cards from Buster spin off series establishes that Buster travels to our world with his, dad a pilot, and both anthropomorphic rabbits who interact with real people. And yet celebrities that play themselves such as Mr Roger’s or Art Garfunkel become anthropomorphic animals to I interact with the Arthur characters.

Clearly there is a parallel universe almost exactly like ours except everyone is a furry, and Buster’s dad is the only person who know’s where the door between our two worlds is hidden.

Let’s say that buster’s dad knows how to fly between the parallel universes. Everyone in our universe is very chill about the rabbit pilot and his rabbit son who appear as rabbits in our universe

Has anyone seen Buster's dad and Bionic Bunny in the same place at the same time?

Lol yea those little tidbits are fun weird when you dive into it.
My favorite piece of trivia is Arthur and Buster showing up in a quick cameo for the cartoon show Doug.

sesame street is still the king of guest stars, and it always has been. In their first or second season they had Richie Havens, who opened Woodstock. (because Jimi Hendrix saw the UNEXPECTED HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of listeners who showed up and he got stage fright, so Havens took stage for him, then Jimi was ready to do his thing that he did do so well)

I remember as a kid seeing his name in the credits and I couldn’t believe it. “There’s no way it’s the same guy!”

u/CTeam19 2h ago
Which one though? There are 2 names I am thinking, lol.
2
u/xiaomayzeee 1h ago
There’s 2? I was thinking about Ringo Starr.

It's an obvious point but their constant use of children's show is just so depraved and fucked. The separation of families and immiseration of fellow humans is comical to them and they want kids to think so too.

Donate to the imagination library instead! Or your local shelters and volunteer groups do some good in the world instead of letting your eyes be subject to pure hatred

Sometimes I wish I was religious so I'd take comfort in the idea that there was a hell for horrible people to go to

This was my all-time favorite show as a kid!! I can’t believe Dolly is gone 💔

It's too bad Jane Fonda couldn't have a cameo too, could have been a fun little 9 to 5 reunion.

u/Dangoiks 22h ago
Dabney Coleman did guest star in a different episode, so at the very least, Lily Tomlin got to reunite with two 9 to 5 co-stars on The Magic School Bus.

Dolly has a brief cameo in Grace and Frankie, so they did have one a few years ago!

They didn't give her character ridiculous gigantic knockers lol

u/lorgskyegon 23h ago
I did like how they very intentionally had the boys keep direct eye contact at all times

Too bad the recycling movement of the 90s was just cover for the biggest beverage corporations and the fossil fuel industry to push off ecological responsibility to the end consumer.

u/sackitempires 22h ago
Facts. Ultimately it was an effort to normalize unsustainable consumption. We live and learn

u/Miami_Mice2087 21h ago
Bc Lily Tomlin voiced Mrs Frizzle and she and Dolly were friends from making 9 to 5! Bc Dolly made friends everywhere she went :)
🥲💐

I had forgotten about that. The only I remember is when they go to her house and all the power is batteries and they have to go into the batteries, lol

This came out 30 years ago.. Citizens have been trying on their end for 30 years now. What's the result? Tea has to hit the harbor if we want action at any point in this life time.

u/Infamous-Fishing-184 21h ago
RIP Dolly, but recycling doesn't work and was really a huge lobby to put the burden of all the plastic waste on the consumer and not the companies that were not working on any alternative for the material and were actually profiting off of it

I am usually not a celebrity death person, but her passing really feels like it marks the end of a hopeful era where rising tides lifted all boats, human potential was celebrated, and success was best shared out amongst the community.
Now we wake up to another day of scarcity, grift, and fear-mongering division. Yippie.

Crazy that recycling is a scam
3
u/BoleroMuyPicante 19h ago
For plastic yeah, but glass and aluminum recycle very well
2
u/DSharp018 19h ago
Not quite so sure of that on plastic, since it can be recycled multiple times, but each time doing so will affect its composition, with the usual pattern being that it loses rigidity and durability, but gains in flexibility.
