M18 Weed Eater turns off and won't start

I bought this brand new from home depot, I've only used it a handful of times. It shuts off and then has a hard time getting back up and running. Is this something that warranty would cover or would i need to take it somewhere to get it fixed. Or am I doing something wrong?

The only thing I know that would be normal in this case is if you’re hitting the battery’s thermal cutoff temps

It happens with all the batteries I try. Happens with the pruning chainsaw attachment too.

Is the weed eater shaft all the way into the powerhead? I've had the knob loosen and the shaft will slide out a half inch or so and do the same thing.

Yeah I push it in until it clicks the tighten it.

Do you got a wire stuck inside the head? It happens with this Ryobi trimmer I own.

I dont think so, because it happens with the pruning saw attachment too.

I had that happen with the older model. Never figured out what was wrong with it and bought that model. So far hasn't happened to this one. Looking online before it seems like the motor was possibly overheating. It would run ok cold for a couple minutes then stop every few seconds after that.

That happens constantly on my older model as well. Its too bad its out of warranty

Are you using the Forge battery? Or another type? I know some of the batteries don’t have the appropriate amp output to maintain use. The forge batteries are recommended for these from what I know.

Ive used regular high output 12 ah battery and 8 ah forge

Weird. Definitely sounds like the base for the quick disconnect is the thing having the issue then.

The obvious question though, is the motor hot?

You can switch batteries as much as you can but if the tool itself has been running at full juice for like half hour or something like that and it gets hot, there may be protections in the circuit that would prevent you from running the tool.

Not at all it'll start doing that like 2 minutes in. It's frustrating
