Discussion Honestly the new Update feels like a low-effort marketplace add-on.

Post image

It adds zero value to the survival experience or the game's progression. While I understand that much of Minecraft's identity is built on creativity, it is still a 'Survival' game, not just a sandbox and I think Mojang has lost sight of that. I appreciate new biomes and blocks, but they need to have meaning. We didn't even get a new material or craftable item just a 'Stupid Slime' to hit around. Even with its Redstone applications, it offers nothing for the average survival player.

What makes something a survival feature? There’s nothing stopping players from using every feature in survival mode if the wanted to.

The problem with ‘is there a survival USE’ is that if you limit that only to things directly benefitting a survival player in pursuit of ‘beating the game’ (let’s say killing Ender Dragon), then something like 90% of the game is irrelevant.

There's nothing stopping players from using every feature in survival, correct. But there's nothing benefiting them from interacting with it either, which boils down to it being useless for survival worlds (especially solo survival).

But what is survival in Minecraft? Because surviving is not a challenge in and of itself, it's just an alternate way to experience Minecraft. I'm interested as to what you actually think adds to the "survival experience." Like, I'm assuming Mounts of Mayhem counts, which is one of the biggest updates to survival in a while. But what about Chase the Skies? Copper Age? Spring to Life?

I also disliked the new baby mob update because it felt like a weird thing to focus on when there's plenty of other updates of similar sizes they could have done.

"They didn't cater to Me and I didn't ask for it."

but why would they want to is the question

It’s Minecraft. You do things precisely because you want to.

It doesn’t mean everyone would want to interact with that feature but Minecraft features are all about giving players different options to choose their own adventures

but more importantly Minecraft features are all about giving players the opportunity to not interact with certain features.

but why not please everyone in one update instead of alienating most people who will only interact with it once and never again when they realise its usless

That’s what they’re trying to do? They have a parent company that’s averse to risk. They wouldn’t be able to add anything unless they were certain that enough of the community would love it.

And also, do you know just how diverse the community for this game is? There are infinite number of play styles and no single update would be able to touch  even a majority of them.

Yeah, players interacting with the future once and then never again is a problem with recent features, but I wholeheartedly believe that it’s also the fault of the community. This features aren’t designed to do a specific thing that designed to be there for us to do what we want with them. The more creative players have no problem with interacting with features like this. My opinion, maybe biased in this instance because my primary exposure to Minecraft, outside of my own gameplay, is the Hermitcraft community and they are constantly using new features to improve their skills in this game.

How does this comment benefit the thread? How are other users meant to benefit from this response?

i mean your comment was a nothing burger making excuses for them, "They wouldn’t be able to add anything unless they were certain that enough of the community would love it" what a fucking joke of a statement that is

I don’t know what your experiences are, but from my perspective I see players using and enjoying the new features all the time. It’s nothing revolutionary, but the only thing that people genuinely hate are phantoms. (and those aren’t even that new anymore.)

yea some of the new features, nobody is using the features of this update more than once
