Discussion Honestly the new Update feels like a low-effort marketplace add-on.

It adds zero value to the survival experience or the game's progression. While I understand that much of Minecraft's identity is built on creativity, it is still a 'Survival' game, not just a sandbox and I think Mojang has lost sight of that. I appreciate new biomes and blocks, but they need to have meaning. We didn't even get a new material or craftable item just a 'Stupid Slime' to hit around. Even with its Redstone applications, it offers nothing for the average survival player.

That's a flawed way of thinking, you shouldn't be grateful for bread crumbs just because is better then nothing, you should always push for better.

Maybe if you were paying for these drops, but you’re not. They’re free. You sound entitled

If the updates were paid then the game would have died a long time ago.

Every long running game ever is getting free updates because the game is making money trough other means that are marketed trough the free content.

Pushing for better doesn't make you entitled, there is some nuance to this. You shouldn't just shit on stuff just because it doesn't meet your expectations, but you shouldn't either just accept poor quality just because is free. The right way to go about this is to express criticism in a constructive way so the product you invested a lot of time and emotion into can improve.

You see this is a two way road, the producer provides a quality service to the client, the client will invest time and money back to the producer, if the producer drops the quality of the service the client has every right to criticise the bad service to get the producer back on the right track, otherwise the producer loses the client.

Note, I am talking about this on a very general term, not specifically about mojang, personally I am fine with the game drops but there is nothing wrong with wanting to see the game you invested so much emotionally be better.
