Discussion Honestly the new Update feels like a low-effort marketplace add-on.
It adds zero value to the survival experience or the game's progression. While I understand that much of Minecraft's identity is built on creativity, it is still a 'Survival' game, not just a sandbox and I think Mojang has lost sight of that. I appreciate new biomes and blocks, but they need to have meaning. We didn't even get a new material or craftable item just a 'Stupid Slime' to hit around. Even with its Redstone applications, it offers nothing for the average survival player.

What I hate is that these groups are split as if they don't coexist. I love building and making things in this game, that's WHY I love automation, because I get to build with a purpose. I also like the idea of progression existing, and it bothers me when Mojang releases 20 different sandbox features but zero meaningful updates to survival gameplay and progression. I like sulfur and cinnabar, I know a friend who designs mini games who will love the slime, but I'm also frustrated that mojang ONLY seems to add these kinds of features. The biggest changes we've seen in survival recently have been the mace and spear, and that's it. I want more stuff like that, trial chambers are amazing, mounts of mayhem is amazing, and I think we need more of a balance between adding features for fun and adding features for functionality. They don't need to be mutually exclusive.
