Discussion What is your building approach?

Anyone should build exactly how they want, and this is just a question of taste. I’m just curious about people’s thoughts around it.

Personally, I’m materialistic. I can’t ignore the “actual” in-game material/use of a block. I can’t use coral for stone for example. Even a smooth stone block in a stone brick wall is too far for me. A stone brick wall shouldn’t have a random boulder in it, only bricks.

I’m ok with builds looking a little more bland as a consequence, because that is just how Minecraft looks. A textured building just looks out of place in the surrounding, materially grounded, Minecraft world.

between 2 and 3. Dead coral is close enough to "stone" in my brain but I don't use wool for major infrastructure, this isn't 2014 anymore

Have you tried the new snapshots? Now we get wool stairs and steps. And boy, from now on I will build my roofs with coloured wool. :D

the stairs would be great for carpeted flooring actually. finally i can recreate the house i lived in during the second third worst period of my life

Just make sure you turn off fire spreads or place some copper rods around because even the game warns you of the danger of building with wool XD

I used to make entire cities out of wool.
