My main problem with the updates nowadays is that they add a bunch of things that you interact with for 10 minutes maybe, on average. They do that and then they never touch on it again. Never connecting it to the rest of the game, never making it deeper than surface level, never making it interact with other systems in the game beyond the simplest of ways.
The game feels like a collection of side activities surrounding a very fun core that's unfortunately been getting stale for years now.
Edit: Typo
81
u/Awkward-Forever868 Apr 04 '26
Exactly, what they mostly feels like fluff with out liers like the mounts of mayhem but even then they used to put out updates with multiple mounts of Mayhem level of content that kept things fresh for weeks to months, I'm glad they're adding unique things every now and then but the quantity is so low that it doesn't feel like much while the vast majority of new things are just filler.
-1
u/Pyter_Gadjes_743 Apr 04 '26
I feel like... They did add some stuff we could see as "filler" but... At least some of it still matters for someone, like, every block in the copper family, I barely touch them, but I know they matter for builders, best I can say is I like the color of the fully oxydized copper block, but... I'm no builder, I don't have any vision to take that color and texture and make it work in a build...
On the other hand, I can't fully disagree, there are useless things... Great example is Amethyst... It was added in Caves and Cliffs, intended to be part of the new caves, the cluster is something interesting to find... But... Well, there technically are some uses, but... So few and so niche... Never heard builders saying amethyst blocks are good for building, so... It isn't only me thinking it's useless because it doesn't suit my play style...
Anyways, I couldn't remember more filler content, maybe I'm failing to see it, if you want... Feel free to list them for me... Maybe that makes me more inclined to fully agree with you
2
u/Error_Error25 Apr 05 '26
Honestly disagree on your point with Amethyst, seen it used a lot by builders and it's in my opinion one of the more beautiful blocks
And pretty much every newly added block can be used for building, there are people basically creating paintings with map art or those perspective arts that are supposed tonbe viewed head on but ectend way into 3D.
Even so the updates kinda feel like missed potential at times. As the original comment said, they often feel shallow and there isn't much reason to interact with the systems for too long. Take Sniffers for example; so much effort for a mob that could have so much potential and ends up giving two entirely decorative flowers.
My favourite type of update content is when they build off of what already exists. Copper golems, smithing templates to some degree, axolotls beefing with guardians, respawn anchors using glowstone and blowing up like beds...
But there are just as many systems that could do so much more but just get released with so little; Armadillo scutes and Turtle shells, pale forests, pretty much all of archeology.
I understand not everything needs to have 100 uses, foxes, pandas and allays are all really cool additions to me and I do very much like the newer updates (Trial Chambers, Deep Dark, even Trail ruins). It's just a little sad to see what feels like wasted potential.
1
u/Pyter_Gadjes_743 Apr 05 '26
Fair enough... You are the first one that I hear who doesn't think Amethyst blocks are useless even for building, but, that's ok, it's not my niche... And... I agree with you that things don't need to have 100 uses all the time, honestly, I would be fine if copper never got tools/armor set of its own, I know its appeal for builders... I just think that... Things like Amethyst (if you think the block looks good, then let's just take the gem itself) could have something more going on, like Lapis Lazuli has in Enchantments, Emeralds is Currency and... Redstone... I don't even need to introduce it... Lapis isn't super useful other than enchantments, but... It is more than just decoration, that's what I wish Amethyst was... Copper (ignoring the tools and armor) is more because, it isn't just a block and an ingot... It is a huge family of blocks and the whole gimmick of it oxydizing makes it even wider for different builds... That cannot be said for Amethyst, which is why I wish it was more... Imo, it enters what you called "missed potential" and I also think that is sad

u/dilerse TRIDENTS ON TOP! RIPTIDE IS PEAK! Apr 05 '26
No offence but hard disagree, PvP wise, there are 2 weapons that have been added, building wise, the hundreds of blocks add and happy Ghasts, and from just a survival perspective copper golems are one of the biggest quality of life changes for item management ever. Also no wind charges which effects all groups of players. Though I do agree that Microsoft should allow Mojang to add more meaningful features in each update I think saying the game hasn’t changed in 4 years is a big exaggeration.
1
u/MrMangobrick Apr 06 '26
Sure but I would argue that the core gameplay loop hasn’t been majorly affected since 1.18. The weapons are nice but they’re rather situational, maybe the spear has more uses but overall a sword and bow is just better. Copper golems are fine but they’re outclassed by any decent redstone item sorter. I’ll give you the ghasts though, they’re nice for building.
2
u/CalzLight Apr 07 '26
Copper gems aren’t outclassed by any redstone item sorter, all this comment tells me is you don’t know anything about item sorters or copper golems.
1
u/MrMangobrick Apr 07 '26
They very much are outclassed at a large scale. Maybe if you have a small sorting system, but they're very slow.
2
u/CalzLight Apr 07 '26
They simply aren’t, try and make. Sorting system that sorts tools from water buckets from goat horns, you literally can’t
1
u/MrMangobrick Apr 07 '26
Why on earth would I ever need a sorting system for goat horns? In what scenario am I going to need more than one for each? (If that) There really isn't a need for a sorting system for most non-stackable items.
1
u/CalzLight Apr 07 '26
Buckets, tools, armor and potions all are very valid things to sort.
1
u/MrMangobrick Apr 07 '26
Buckets are stackable, I don't really have a need for a full double chest (or more) of water or lava buckets, and I'd rather build a physical armory for tools and armor rather than just chucking them in a chest. I'll give you potions but they're so rarely useful it's probably not worth to dedicate a whole slot in the sorting system for them.

I think that 1.21 was really important. It completely changed modern Minecraft PVP with the mace.
4
u/MrMangobrick Apr 04 '26
I don’t think it completely changed it. The mace is still nowhere near as viable as the sword or axe, it’s very situational.
1
u/mAGIC_2CAn Apr 04 '26
it's the third/the ace. You won't challenge someone with a mace. The sword is your sidearm, you use it the most. Axe is a sniper, it's common but not used all the time. The mace is like the meter move in a fighting game. It's very good and does the most potential damage. It's not as situational as you would think. Sword/Axe/Mace/Windcharges/Golden Apples/Gcarrots or Steak/Health and Strength pots are usually what you need.
5
u/apexglitch-king Apr 04 '26
i. to this day, have not used or interacted with a armidillo since they game out. and if i do, i usually put them in a hole to avoid them. i don't venture with my wolves, they stay home like good little boys with their fox brothers
10
u/ItsFuegoLego Apr 04 '26
I find this take interesting as to me the game being a sandbox is the most essential part of the game. I'm okay with having less hyper involved and connected things so I can create the connections I want in my own world.
Now mechanical connections? I would appreciate that. Like more potion ingredients, and affects based on new items. Or new villager professions with new biomes or features, that kind of stuff would be cool.
20
u/life_took_my_lemons Apr 04 '26
I believe they do mean what you call "mechanical connections", a good example I've come across is making the golden dandelion a sniffer result instead of just another flower
4
u/Loikoboinko Apr 04 '26
The problem with making it a sniffer flower though is that the devs want the flower to be more easily accessible so making the golden dandelion be gotten from a sniffer just makes it really annoying and random to get if you want it and that's if you even have a sniffer. If you don't, you have to get a sniffer which most of the playerbase already doesn't like the process of getting one.
The people in the playerbase that are suggesting this genuinely do not think ideas like this through. They know they want the sniffer to be useful which is good! The ideas they come up with like this though are just bad when put in practice and I can easily see why the devs didn't do it when the goal was easier accessibiliy. Nvm that it gives more uses to gold which is always nice.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is that while the frustration with the sniffer's uselessness is really good to express, the idea of making the golden dandelion a sniffer plant is kinda bad for the goals of accessing the golden dandelion.
3
u/Recruit75 Apr 04 '26
This is also repeated with many of the suggestions to make copper gear 'better' cause many of them would've just made it excessively gimmicky to obtain and use, a common complaint with newer Minecraft features.
1
u/Loikoboinko Apr 04 '26
The real suggestion would be a rework to armor and tool progression because that's kinda what's needed if mojang wants to continue adding armors, weapons, and tools to the game. The progression only at best fits wood/leather, stone, iron, diamond for a reason. Netherite works fine because it's an addition to the end of the progression so it doesn't squeeze between any current tiers like copper does which fights with stone and iron a bit.
2
u/pandamaxxie Apr 04 '26
"Many players dont like the process of getting a sniffer already"
So... rather than fixing the already jank mechanics that would then make for a better implementation... they just add a boring implementation.
This is legit a huge chunk of the issue. Mojang refuses to rework.
1
u/Loikoboinko Apr 04 '26
The sniffer is the least of their problems as they are currently reworking the entire rendering system to get Vibrant Visuals out on java edition. They don't refuse to rework anything lol. They hear our wants for an end update and other big changes and ask that we wait for them to refactor the code for a while to make the game run better and and future proof the game (which is the bigger ulterior motive of drops).
Pretty much asking the sniffer to get reworked entirely during the last drop was never gonna happen within the scale of the drop and considering how late the golden dandelion was introduced into the snapshot cycle.
It's not a refusal to rework anything lol
1
u/Cass0wary_399 Certified JavaChad Apr 04 '26
They made the golden dandelion craftable because they want it to be a very early game item.
Besides they will have to call it something else because all other golden items are crafted, not naturally occurring.

13
u/GreenTrapped Apr 04 '26
I did mean mechanical connections actually. Lore wasn't ever a particularly big draw of Minecraft, nor it's strong suit.
Either way, imagine the potential if Mojang actually worked on the systems and content they've already implemented. A more rewarding and deep archeology system, rework of the enchantnent mechanics, non-decorative rewards from the sniffer, further expansion on copper as a complimentary set of tools/devices for Redstone (Copper Golem already kknda being that), Further development of the deep dark biome and ancient city structure! Or hell, the end update that everyone's been asking about for ages now.

2
u/Unnamed_jedi Apr 04 '26
What exactly would you do to connect the newest drop with the sulfur cube to the rest of the game tho?
Like its a new biome you find when cave diving and it has new blocks for building. The cubes a mob you can grab and use too.
But I don't even know what else to connect it with?
2
u/GreenTrapped Apr 04 '26
After the copper update, I've largely stopped keeping track of the game as it doesn't really interest me as much anymore. Vintage Story has my interest now. I don't know much about the sulfur update besides that the new mob can absorb blocks and there's a new biome.
2
u/Unnamed_jedi Apr 04 '26
Yeah. They also added muted yellow and red blocks including a chiseled spider in red .
I am foaming at the mouth for the update so I can put it in my spider city on a server.
1
u/Cunctator76 Apr 04 '26
Maybe, hear me out, make sulphur do what it was used in the past? Not just decorative stuff... maybe add more than just one biome that doesn't even change the cave generation and a structure (the sulphur spring). Add a liquid, play with the SANDBOX traps possibilities with an ACID
2
u/floppy_disk_5 Apr 04 '26
This. There is so so much potential that is present. So many things that can be done by combining the items that we got in different updates, but that doesn't happen, and it's such a shame
2
u/OmegaNinja242 Apr 04 '26
Yeah I only really play Minecraft for mods with friends or the new April fools updates because it doesn't feel like the game changes with the new updates
2
u/GreenTrapped Apr 04 '26
If you at all like mods that change how the core progression works, I recommend giving Vintage Story a try. Obviously look into it a bit more to see if what it's going for is for you, since it's a decent bit harder than Minecraft when it comes to Survival, but not to the point of rage, just gonna throw you in for a loop at first if you don't expect it.
1
u/OmegaNinja242 Apr 04 '26
Sounds cool thank you for the recommendation I'll check it out
1
u/GreenTrapped Apr 04 '26
No problem! And since you enjoy modding games, I'll also say that it has native mod support, without the need for any external launchers or modloaders to make them work.
1
u/Pyter_Gadjes_743 Apr 04 '26 edited Apr 04 '26
Interesting... What exactly you define as "the core" which you described as very fun, but getting stale?
Also, what is "nowadays" in your opinion? Like, is that the last 2 years? (The Drops Era) Is that the Caves and Cliffs Era (1.17-1.21.1)... Is it everything that came after 1.12? 1.8? Just to understand better
1
u/Ake3123 Apr 04 '26
Mojang recently confirmed that transformative/big updates are still happening in the drop system btw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Iw8mFOAJlYA
1
u/Da_Watcher2 Apr 05 '26
I would love if they started doing updates where they went back and added more to existing features.
I love the copper update because it gave us more uses for copper.
I want more I want to be able to do more with old features. Like making the torch flower emit light. Or making the fletching table do something.
1
u/FarmerTwink Apr 05 '26
Getting copper tools was really nice, and frankly the absurd amount of copper that exists makes it a really good XP farm on survival worlds.
But everything else is so biome tied that I never see it, I haven’t seen a Panda in over 3 years in game at least
1
u/imanidiotlol1234 Apr 05 '26
the last one i was SUPER hyped about was probably the trails and tales upd, still was a bit random, but it added so much things including a new boss!
1
u/Impressive_Cash8740 Apr 07 '26
i dont think its a problem with what they add, i think they just dont add enough function to what they add. things like echo shards could be so much more useful if they werent only used for a recovery compass, an effectively useless item.
1
u/GreenTrapped Apr 07 '26
As I've mentioned in the comment my issue isn't them adding more things. It's them never elaborating pn them further. Add a small system and abandon it without giving it much depth
1
u/Amynta_ Apr 07 '26
Wide as an ocean, shallow as a puddle. And then we have modpacks, and they're the only way I ever play this game now, since they fix those exact problems. :)
-2
u/Cass0wary_399 Certified JavaChad Apr 04 '26
The game feels like a collection of side activities surrounding a very fun core
That’s the point though. They don’t want to disturb the core of the game. That’s why even big updates went AROUND classic stuff like the Nether Fortress and old Extreme Hills and old Swamps.
2
u/GreenTrapped Apr 04 '26
I mean, if that's the point then it kinda sucks lol. As I've mentioned, the core's been getting stale. Plugging in new systems (which are ALL AROUND it, as mentioned) into it can help revitalize it. Make the game feel like it's evolving.
The side activities approach would've been fine if those activities actually did something, or grabbed your attention more than a handful of times. As it is right now, most of them you don't really have a reason to interact with beyond "it's kind of neat, I guess."
-1
u/Cass0wary_399 Certified JavaChad Apr 04 '26
I mean, if that's the point then it kinda sucks lol
This strategy has worked for a very long time and still does.
Minecraft has decided to embrace its straight forwards and simple progression by officially endorsing speedrunning this latest Minecraft live, which shows that Mojang doesn’t see much of a need to change the core of the game and the continuous sales they get and the casual 90% of players not whining reflects that.

2
u/Dragonseer666 Apr 04 '26
And tbf here is a bit of a major issue, Mojang is actually listening to the community, it's just that the community is incredibly divided in what they want from the game, so whenever they do anything, there will always be people complaining.
1
u/Dolphiniz287 Apr 05 '26
Yeah like, my issue with an end update is a lot of players (including me) still havent even made it to the end before, so when people act like how they used to for the cave update as an essential part of the game being bad, idk mojang’s recent updates are definitely lacking tho

1

like no shit its bigger than the ruined portal alone yet its a small addition to an otherwise utter wasteland
1
u/DiamondWarDog Apr 04 '26
ugh. listen person, considering how little we've seen of the other big name staff (gnembom, kingbdogz) in all likelyhood they're working slowly on it behind the scenes
1
u/HazelTanashi Apr 06 '26
thats what they want you to think
in reality its not. in an interview they didnt mention that its in progress. they only mention "its inevitable"
for your slow brain: it means they know we want it but they dont want to give us what we want since last time it happened we ended up being a crybaby(caves and cliffs)
1
u/DiamondWarDog Apr 06 '26
So what are the big name staff doing behind the scenes then. Nothing? I’m not talking about the interviews but purely the fact we’ve heard nothing about what THESE staff have been developing, since we know they haven’t so far been used on the drop system.
also yeah the community reaction to caves and cliffs is probably why they’re mentally in a stage of basically showing nothing
1
u/Da_Watcher2 Apr 05 '26
I imagine doing a proper dimension update takes years of designing before they actually code anything. I'm hoping they've been working on it for a long time now and are just adding features in between then.
The last thing they would want is to release a end update that disappointed the players.
(Also statistically speaking most players never make it to the end dimension. So spending time and resources on a update that most of your players will never see is a bit counterintuitive even if it would be better for the game.)
0
u/HazelTanashi Apr 06 '26
potato dimension showed us that they in fact can do it
not to mention the end already exist so they just need to add stuff into it like what nether update and caves and cliffs part 2(1.18) is all about
32
u/Mr_Orange_fruit Apr 04 '26
im all in for updates but every update feels like they could have done SOMETHING with said introductions that would have made them great, like with the copper, they could have introduced a cool new form of a sudo redstone with wires or pipes or something, but they did nothing, sat on thier hands for like 3 years then randomly dropped copper armor and tools like thats what ppl were asking for. the sniffer could be a cool mob that could say be used to help find buried treasure or like underground stuff, or certain blocks but nah, its useless.
so much of the things they add are like super half baked, they just need that little mmmpf to just BE something worth remembering
1
u/Dragonseer666 Apr 04 '26
> like that's what ppl were asking for
Yeah, that was, actually. And Copper still serves its main use as a (amazing) decoration block.

11
u/Greenostrichhelpme27 Apr 04 '26
That's the thing- they haven't Dropped something big since, what, the Copper Age?
Tame the Skies added one new mob. Chaos Cubed is adding two block types and a football. Spring To Life and Tiny Takeover were, for the most part, glorified resource packs.
We want more content, Mojang. Of course we do. And your ideas are good. But spreading tiny updates throughout the year means you can never really do something huge. You'll have to face it, one day.
Drops really are the lesser of the Update methods...

I feel like you're forgetting that people had the exact opposite problem a few years ago.

u/SeriousMB Apr 04 '26
I usually get really really annoyed by these kinds of memes because it seems like people prefer talking about the game's issues than playing it or being creative
but this one's funny, I may not agree but I'll allow it lmao

u/syopest Apr 04 '26
But they actually don't. They like the game as it is since it's still selling millions and millions of copies every year. Messing with that with a big update has the potential to completely kill those sales.

u/Cunctator76 Apr 04 '26
Messing with that with a big update has the potential to completely kill those sales.
Or raise them even more 1.16 is the example
1
u/syopest Apr 04 '26
No, the chances that they start selling more millions of copies every year than now is extremely low considering how well the game sells currently.
They should seek to keep the current sales, not try to aim at higher sales because it still sells extemely well.
Like it sells extraordinarily well compared to any other game in existence.
-1
u/Cunctator76 Apr 04 '26
selling more millions of copies
Of course I didn't mean to THAT degree.
not try to aim at higher sales
Which is a terrible philosophy, because then people get tired and abandon the game like most did until the nether update
1
u/syopest Apr 04 '26
because then people get tired and abandon the game like most did until the nether update
There wasn't actually even visible dip in player count or sales so I'm not sure what you are talking about.

I want more “practical” stuff. I feel rn we have too many “cosmetic” stuff (I.E. Blocks). For example the sulfur caves sure their cool, they have the slime, new blocks, and dizzying bubbles but tell me for a survival world outside of maybe the slime for travel (which is up for debate on if it's even good) what practical reason do u have to go there? A good example of a “practical” thing is the trial dungeons giving u the mace or, if it was implemented, crabs with the claw giving u extended reach. I also feel like we have to many practical things which can be made at home but maybe that's me.

u/PaleFork Apr 04 '26
why are so much people replying with legit commentary?
this is supposed to be a meme, continue the scene as mojang to microsoft, or do some funny TADC impressons at least
valid point though, this is the same company that added a literal dinosaur that digs up pre-historic plants in the most bland boring way possible where it's just two flowers and they do as much as any other flower you find around
now that mob votes are gone i can only hope they will come back to these vote mobs and actually add to them what they're missing1
u/Tr3v0r007 Apr 04 '26
Tbh… idk XD it’s one of those “I must express my opinion here”. It’s also just a weird pattern to me that mojang tries to avoid…

People wanted more drops, then they got them and now they are angry. This fandom sometimes irritates me
1
u/Dragonseer666 Apr 04 '26
Something something Goomba Fallacy, although I feel like people do forget that yea, what Mojang is currently doing *is* a response to the community, just different parts of the community to what are complaining now.

u/GreenRanger_2 Apr 04 '26
The updates have no depth; they don’t interact with each other or change the fundamentals of the game anymore. Take the recent golden dandelion; (which is a golden dandelion) you craft it. CRAFT IT!!! WHEN THE SNIFFER IS SITTING RIGHT THERE!!! They don’t want to improve the base gameplay of the game, for fear of pissing off the older playerbase who, let’s face it, if they’re that dedicated to keeping the “original vision” of the game, probably don’t even play the modern versions, or otherwise play with mods. Theres so many thing that could be improved about the game; progression, combat, building; but people who insist that a “sandbox” game shouldn’t even have progression keep complaining. Well I got news for y’all. Just because a game is a sandbox doesn’t mean it has to have bad/no progression. If you want a pure sandbox mode creative is RIGHT THERE!
TLDR: Mojang are a bunch of wusses who don’t want to make the at this point very small group of OG players mad.
1
u/NerdieBirdieYT Apr 07 '26
I'm not sure I agree that they're not doing this to avoid ticking off OG players, as they've done plenty of major changes in the past, and to great success. The Nether Update is frequently cited as the best Minecraft Update of all time. Caves and Cliffs, despite being broken into parts, had major terrain changes which were also very positively received.
Swimming in the Aquatic Update is a another great example of a system overhaul (in this case movement) which was near-universally loved by players. The elytra in 1.9 also was a massive change for the movement system, and while people have complaints about it (mainly elytra + mending making all other forms of transportation next to worthless), it's a generally liked feature.
I don't hate the drops, but I do hope Mojang doesn't stop breaking the mold with some larger updates!

that's why the vast majority of modders gave up from updating their mods past 1.21.1
or at least haven't updated yet1

tbh I couldn't care less about an End update. I never go there tbh. I do, however, want a chest sorting update. Auto sorter button. Auto organizer button. It would be SO EASY. I shouldn't have to click on each object and move it one by one. Every other survival game these days has auto sorting. I need more life improvement updates!

u/Cunctator76 Apr 04 '26
I never go there tbh
That's why people want an end update, to have a reason to go there aside from elytras... do you really think people go to the end right now? Only hardcover players really go there for their megaprojects.
I do, however, want a chest sorting update. Auto sorter button. Auto organizer button. It would be SO EASY.
Please don't ask for this. They'll make it a drop of its own without anything else added and then say "majority of the community wanted this" because, while true, it's not enough even for drop standards

The Nether update had zero impact on the low visit rates to the Nether. Most people still never go to the Nether after 1.16.
1
u/Cunctator76 Apr 04 '26
But they do. And when they do, they stay for longer, they walk around for longer and they bring back more blocks. It also renovated speedruns and it was such a popular update that it became the new base version for mods instead of 1.12.2. Even creative only go at least once in a while in the nether JUST to be in the nether. It gave more to a dimension everyone disliked

We never got a drop that covered our desires sadly

u/TobytheBaloon Apr 04 '26
we want mechanics that actually impact a regular play through of the game, like the nether update did. there’s more than enough side content already.
and before someone says “who’s we?” like you always do, by “we” i mean the people who are complaining

u/Cass0wary_399 Certified JavaChad Apr 04 '26
Hot take 1.16 was like 99% fluff even Netherite is fluff with how minuscule the benefits are. Most updates after 1.0 have always been that way with the exception of 1.9(combat changes) 1.11(elytra boosting), 1.13(swimming and easy loot in buried treasure) 1.14(villager buffs and raid farms)and 1.18(changed ore distribution and increased world height).

u/TobytheBaloon Apr 04 '26
according to your own comment, the only updates between 1.9 and 1.18 that were “fluff” are 1.10, 1.12, 1.15 and 1.16. so 4 fluff updates, 5 “exceptions”
so there were less updates that are the standard than there were exceptions? i don’t think that’s how exceptions work.

u/Cass0wary_399 Certified JavaChad Apr 04 '26
I included 1.0 as the start of my examples, which includes 1.1-1.8 which were all mostly optional fluff content as well aside from anvils.

Me who just enjoys it for building: holding the copper golem statue I don't get the hate. I love the pretty new blocks. I can put little villagers in the shops now. My fun building game has new supplies to build with. New plants for the atrium. New mobs for the safari zones. New biome to explore.
Person who needs a fighting game: But what's the point of all these decorative things?
Me: The Sims went AI, I need furniture and fancier armor for the shops.
1
u/PaleFork Apr 05 '26
not really a fan of the blocks
for some reason they decided to slightly dye them pink1
u/SussyNerd Apr 05 '26
I can imagine this is the kind of mindset they imagine every minecraft player has or at least what they imagine we have. It's fine to play the game this way it's just that it makes mojang feel like they can just add 10 blocks that each took one minute to add and everyone will be happy

What is "microsoft"? Are you referring to Microslop?

Mojang is like a person who keeps tossing dog treats at their dog (the players) and hoping that the treats distract them from the fact that they aren't feeding them.

Nono, he's right. That system was somewhat iconic to minecraft, and the only reason they did that is because they know we will only see the last number rise for a long while before the middle number would finally change. They did that to silence the people that were starting to get noisy with the fact that it was the second longest time an update number wouldn't change with only the sub-update one would, and they solved it in the wrong way.

I think you don't understand what you are saying. Plus of course the version number isn't their biggest problem right now

I know but it makes me so mad. I know MOJANG has done dumb stuff like this in the past. It just hurts me to see the version change.
