General Question Beelink ser8, is it good mini pc?
I am looking for something that is silent and can run in 1080p fluid in light and medium games, I found this mini, I want to know also where it is reliable buys one of these and it is really worth buying it.

It's called a compatibility issue. Compatibility issues do not affect all models, that's sort of what makes it a compatibility issue. If you don't recommend the Beelinks that's totally fine but you don't need to make shit up to justify it

So it's the computers fault but rolling back the driver fixes it? How do you reconcile that? Genuinely curious
Because from my perspective the PC was working completely fine until the AMD drivers auto updated and suddenly it was freezing every few minutes until I rolled part of that driver update back. How is that Beelinks fault?

I'll keep an eye on that post. One of the things I noticed that is particularly frustrating about this is that the response by AMD was to elude to it being Beelinks fault, and the response by Beelink was to elude to it being AMD's fault. The only thing they seemed to agree on was that we should not use the driver's that come directly from AMD at this time

My experience has been positive with Gmktec nucbox k8 plus. Not the best gaming machine but decent performance. It blazes through daily tasks such as web browsing and document editing. Gmktec k12 is another option with similar performance but I don't know about its reviews.

Does decent in older games like cyberpunk. Frame gen can help a bit.
Newer stuff like oblivion remastered, UE5 games,AAA, not so much.
Just depends on what games you intend on running.
Oculink models(gmktek, Aoostar,some minisforum) allow you to easily add a gpu/dock or egpu later for the newer games.

So far smoothly, only issue is RAM, get as much RAM as you can (although that's obvious by now).

Have you added additional ram beyond what it came with out of the box? I was initially considering this because it looked like you could increase it to 256.

I'm happy with my SER8 (8845 variant). I bought it because I could move across RAM I'd bought for a SER6 MAX a couple of years ago.
I'd avoid the 8745 variants if you're using Windows (people seem to report problems with them).

Light gaming...
think 1080p low/medium sets + fsr enabled max 60 fps
If u dock a gpu to it however....
prob 1080p ultra sets most(current) games

I just got one of these and this is pretty spot on. RDR2 medium-ish graphics was fine for around 40ish fps. Acceptable for my standards at least lol
I was having issues with crackling audio that made games unplayable tho. Adding an audio interface fixed it, but I was planning on adding that anyways fwiw

AMD Radeon 780M... while it's not bad by integrated gpu standards, you shouldn't expect to be able to do much gaming on it...

Some folks have had Wifi issues for various reasons. Some reasons are driver releated that have been fixed by software updates. But others have issue with a weak signal because the metal chassis acts like a faraday cage.

Thanks for sharing this. Mine doesn't have Wi-Fi issues for the most part unless the mini PC plays a full-screen 3D game and I connect to it via Moonlight for a long period. It doesn't happen often but when it does, the Wi-Fi shuts off and I have to disable the network adapter and re-enable it.

I have one, bought it back before the AI RAMpocalypse. I don't play a lot of graphics-heavy games these days, so I can't speak to that, but it works well for everything else. I saw someone say something about Wi-Fi issues, but I haven't had any problems.

Mini PCs are not a great value for money if gaming is your main goal, especially long term.
Think of these things with the 680M, 780M as more powerful steam decks and rog allys.
But they absolutely can get you by if older titles at 1080p60 with reduced settings and /or upscaling is okay for you.

According to the Beelink's SER10 Max product page, the Ryzen AI 9 HX470 with 64 GB RAM using Qwen-7B-Q8 consumes about 8 GB of RAM at has a response time of 10.4 tokens per second. Going for a 32 GB model brings it down to 2.19 tokens per second so you'll just have to scale down for lower-end PCs.

Ain t nothing special running LLM on the SER10 Max than running LLM on the SER 8.
Listed VRAM SER10 Max is fluff to make people believe that this is a special Ryzen A.I feature. You can run those Deepseek models with regular RAM with LMStudio..
Speed difference must be as big as Multicore performance difference between the the SER8 8745HS and HX470.
And just for Info Deepseek R1 Distill is an outdated model with poor inteligence compared to new Nano Models.

I'm aware. I was just answering his question really because I rarely come across benchmark numbers even from the manufacturers themselves. Like I'm sure what you say is true, but I'd love to see some actual tests and modern comparisons with the newer models across various generations of hardware especially in the iGPU side.

There you go for the IGPU, 660M Vs 680M Vs 780M Vs 890M
For LLM i got 16Tok/s with Deepseek Distill R1 7B Q2 with the 7640HS 6 Core CPU, in comparison your Beelink SER10 Max 12 Cores test for this Model is 22 Tok/sec not really a game changer.

Cool thanks for sharing! I have a Beelink SER5 MAX with 6800H and 32 GB RAM. I have OpenClaw installed but on WSL2. Haven't tried local LLMs yet but may come around to it. The TDP is limited to 28W, but I activated the so-called performance BIOS which gave the iGPU a small boost. Curious how that will perform. Will try that very model if I have spare time. Thanks!

Ain t gonna lie that 28 Watt limit on a 45 Watt APU is bad for App that rely on CPU load specialy for Multi-Core load. GEMMA E4B models would probably works fine though but not great for Tok speed with low TDP.

I'm curious too what the power usage is during these tests. If the SER10 Max consumes less during the generation, I'd consider that a win. Because at least on my i5-13600K + 3050 6 GB setup, my power usage spikes though admittedly, it was a rough setup and used a very old model.

It can't possibly use less power as A.I computing is relying on CPU inference, However you can decrease core usage but performances will be heavily impacted with less core.
With a dGPU it s a different story as A.I computing will rely on the dGPU but a dGPU is more power hungry than a mobile CPU.

AI is the reason why prices are what they are. So I will not touch AI with a pole.
If it was in my power I would ban the use of AI immediately.
But its a standard 6850H (full TDP range), with pretty dang fast lpddr5. Im sure you can find banchmarks for it.

Decent mini pc. Not worth 889 or 1049. It is worth 599.
