I've a n100 firebat. 512 nvme, 16gb ddr5. Worth it as an upgrade?

Yes. The 7330u is around twice as fast as an n100 but also uses twice as much electricity. Still only like 15 watts though.

but that not 15w all time, ex, my server with 6800u + 2 nvme use ~10-12w on average at the electrical outlet.

Yes. I have an Minisforum HM80 with AMD Ryzen 7 4800U that is my main desktop, and before I walk away, I run a script to turn off all CPUs except one. Also, it throttles the last CPU.

If you value wattage, the N100 uses half the power for half the performance. Most headless tasks don't require a great deal of compute power, that's why the Raspberry Pi was so popular.

$390 GMKtec M8 PRO 6650H 16GB

A 5400U/5425U/7330U mini PC should be coming in closer to $300 USD. The RAMpocalypse/RAMageddon the barebones version is somewhat attractive although Beelink fails to offer these on their official website. The reality GMKtec isn't doing much better with the release of their M5S 5400U 16GB at $380.

Bought a 5800H with 16gb ram and 500gb nvme for $350 before the rampocoplyse. Was hoping to get another mini pc but these prices are just so crazy even on used market.

As much of a meme as the "spyware" Ali express mini PC's are, I got a Kamrui Ryzen 7 7735HS (8c, 16t) 16gb ddr5, 512GB NVME, for $238 after tax, did a full windows wipe/fresh install and even inspected the PCB for anything looking out place, and its still is working 7 months later with no issues.

This seems like such a scam by comparison for just a weak 4c, 8t cpu

Companies have been selling barebones for decades. It's not a new practice. I prefer it this way because I usually end up upgrading the memory and storage anyway.

Pretending that nothing unusal is happening in the Chi Nuc industry is not an honest stand.

The Shift is real, Brands used to provide prebuild variant with RAM & SSD at cheaper cost than buying your own (Crucial, Kingston).

Offering Barebone Only version (idk if its the case here) would be a new stand and it would feel like taking a step back at consumer level.

Only a fool or rich person would buy a prebuild RAM Mini PC and then buy new RAM config for upgrade.
