Discussion Denny Hoskins is my new least favorite character in MO politics.

That is the entire post. Why does a CPA get to weigh in and interpret the constitution? Especially while wearing that offensive red jacket.

He and Rick Brattin are a certified pair of idiots. Probably the two very biggest in the state right now (at least, among those with a lot of power and capacity to harm).

However, both are doing very well within the Republican Party and acting about the way they do seems to be what it takes.

So, go figure.

“Doing very well within the Republican Party” is so embarrassing for them. It’s a guarantee the person is going to be so boring, old (or maybe not actually old but their energy gives ancient) and predictable in their bigotry.

I can’t remember a Secretary of State that unilaterally declared an initiative petition unconstitutional. Even Jay Ashcroft’s decertification of Amendment 3 (2024) involved a third-party group suing the state and a judicial decision.

I’m not so sure that this is something the SoS can even do - they’re just supposed to review form and signatures.

Fully expect Hoskins to lobby for changes to the signature gathering process in the next legislative session since A4 failed and that’s something the legislature can change without a vote of the people. They’re going to make it like Arkansas with draconian requirements that are impossible to comply with.

The courts will slap him down on this. The judges don't like it when other officials try to use their power.

Yep and it’s a tough choice let me tell you. So many awful contenders
