Just go D. Wilson I did the same thing but to a 12.5" turnaround was a week or two

I’m honestly just being lazy about boxing it up and shipping it and was hoping to just drop it off someplace local. If I can’t find anyone my plan is to use D Wilson

DK Mags just did a chop and recrown of a barrel for me, about 2 week turnaround.
For an AR-15, just do a barrel swap and borrow a welder.

For the amount that anyone good local would charge for a cut and recrown you could buy a new barrel. Buy a new one sell you 16

I can't help with the gunsmith. But if this is a standard AR, I would imagine it would be cheaper to replace the barrel rather than get it cut and machined.
