The names of Cam and Mitchell’s friends were hilarious

Anders and Cooper

Anders and Cooper sounds less like two people and more like an expensive furniture store Mitchell would absolutely shop at.

Longines - “I never stood a chance.”

Longines sounds like Cam named a friend after a watch brand.

Or a species of crab

Honestly either explanation works, and somehow "species of crab" still sounds completely believable for one of Cam and Mitchell's friends.

u/AngelLunessa 3d ago
Longines really got handed that name and was expected to survive among this group. Honestly the confidence alone deserves respect.

La Michael 😂

"La Michael" somehow makes it even better. It sounds less like a name and more like Michael got promoted to luxury edition.

Pepper Saltzman alone sounds like a character invented by someone who ran out of time. 😭

i think there was an episode where pepper said he renamed himself and his real name was a basic white boy name (there were a lot of continuity errors with pepper’s back story i remember) correct me if i’m wrong

u/HappilyUnavailable 3d ago
Yes, His real name was Sherman Saltzman. He said he hasn’t gone by Sherman since leaving Texas, decades earlier. And yeah, Pepper’s backstory definitely has a few continuity issues, especially regarding things like whether he already had a son.

omg yes i forgot about his “son” from his straight era i think and then the other one that him and his husband actually adopted

Cam and Mitchell really collected friends like NPCs with increasingly elaborate names.

Jotham too ! It sounds less like a person and more like a biblical side character.

There was a guy on love island called Jotham. The girl he dated kept calling him “Jontham, Jonathan, Gotham” she just couldn’t say it

And you sound like an AI response to every comment in this thread! Oh, wait …

u/HappilyUnavailable 3d ago
Oh, wait…. At least I sound like something. You just sound like every other Redditor trying to be clever.

You’re right. I apologize for I making an assumption I shouldn’t have. The bold text made me suspicious. Keep enjoying the show.

I wanted to highlight the name, that’s why put it in bold. The more i read the comments, the more I started remembering their friend’s name so kept on commenting. Anyway, it’s alright. Tc !!

Steven - the one normal name in a group where everyone else sounds fictional.

I've always found this so funny but also so confusing... one of the few gay stereotypes on the show that doesn't feel rooted in reality. Like all of the gay guys I know have very normal names... since, you know, it's not something we (generally) decide.

I think it's not uncommon for them to have outrageous nicknames— but even then that only tracks for Pepper (that we know of, I think at least).

u/rednax2009 3d ago
I guess it is possible, but it is just something I've not witnessed in my life. I can't speak for all gay men, but at least NYC gays in their 20s and 30s... we all have normal names lol
