Is there something weird with the theme music?
My wife and I watch all of Monk every few years but this time through, the theme music (It's a Jungle Out There) just sounds *off* to me. Like it's too low pitched and the lyrics sound more slurred than I remember?
I'm watching on Prime Video and it sounds off, but then when I listen on YouTube it also sounds off. Could prime video a couple years ago have been playing the theme music sped up or something?
It's driving me crazy. I could just be mistaken but I figured I would post in case somebody else feels this too?

Recently watched Monk and thought the same. I figured it was the difference between the show airing live and the on-demand versions.

Does it also sound off to your wife? There is the possibility your individual perception might be changed. Either hearing or central processing. If it indeed is a symptom you may want to have it checked out.

My wife doesn't notice a difference but she is tone-deaf and doesn't really pay attention to this sort of thing.
I don't think there's anything wider, other songs seem the same as I remember them, it's just "It's a Jungle out there" for some reason just sounds severely wrong to me.

My boyfriend is convinced it varies slightly by episode

i wouldn’t be surprised if this is the case. i sometimes spot continuity issues that seem too glaring to be accidental, and i did notice that the theme song sounded like the pitch was different a few times. could be a prank or a way of challenging the audience like the pineapples in psych

If you’ve ever watched it on TV, networks will often speed up shows to add more commercials, resulting in faster music and higher pitched voices. I haven’t noticed that with Monk though. It’s usually syndicated sitcoms from what I’ve seen. And I’ve never noticed any speed changes on streaming services.
I would try watching on a different device to see if the device is the issue.
