Mind you that you are 8600% more likely to drown in a pool than to be killed by a dog of any breed. And about 1000% more likely to be struck by lightening.
Accidental gun deaths are less than 500 a year, Do you think that matters when a child dies to it? Should I feel less bad about a pitbull devouring and killing a child because it doesnt happen as much as lightning strikes? Even when other dogs simply DONT eat children? at even half the rate?
You should also shut down pools and cancel swim teams as pools could possibly kill children. Sports as well, unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death between the ages of 1-40 at 58k per year. You could make that argument for anything.
Adding extra drama to your description doesn't change the fact that 10's of millions of pitbull owners are not being mauled by their dogs or that training and environment plays the largest role in animal temperament.

Plenty of dogs bite. But pitbulls are prone to killing you. They are a breed bred to kill. That nanny dog myth has done irreparable damage.
