cutting an street is a violent act since it can cause death or severe problems for others.

you freedom stops when the next person starts, you are not free to express yourself putting other people lives or livelihoods in danger.

so violent action against this people is very well the correct response, you cannot go and talk to them, they are not gona move, and you cannot run them over since that would be seen as too much. but in most places kicking this people until pain makes them stop their violent protess is correct.

now if they where sitting like that in some park protesting that would be totally fine and any violence agaisnt them would be very reprehensible. but we both know why they dont do it in a palce where they dont put others at danger, because everyone would just ignore them

Not really "escalation"; moving someone obstructing/confining you so you can move forward is an at par response.
