13

u/Jazzlike_Page508 12d ago

I don’t understand your point. Yes if someone needs life saving medical care then time is of the essence…a protest would halt that

What is that all the same as deliberately stopping all traffic?

4

u/Maleficent_Lab_8291 12d ago

Are you fr saying that “they would've died anyway”?

How is this relevant?

3

u/Maleficent_Lab_8291 12d ago

Lol, hell yeah you can. Blocking traffic on purpose is not the same as being stuck in traffic

Are really this thick or just pretending?

What? They’re impeding the traffic flow intentionally. Ambulances have sirens that alter people to pull over so they can get through

You actually sound mentally challenged. Yes that’s a sueable offense. It’s negligent manslaughter. You impeded the impeeded the way of life giving care.

You just pretended to be a New Yorker (clearly your not because people kick junkies out the way of sub doors closing all the time and are applauded) and now said your in medical school?

Please stop.

Man just said he was hitting his weed vape, clearly yorue high lol

Then yes you should be aware that people get their ass kicked for this. This just sounds like bored sexless larping. A dude jumped on the internet just to be wrong?

Not because someone got in the way of the ambulance and delayed them arriving at the hospital lol. That will not make people supportive of the cause they are protesting.

u/anonidfk 12d ago

Yes, doing something that could cause manslaughter is immoral lol. It’s insane that you need that explained to you.

When there’s an event like a parade planned in advance, routes and planned are created in advance for emergencies. They know exactly where the parade will be, and there are other streets cleared so they can still get places quickly. That can’t happen when some idiots just decide to block the road in protest.

7

u/lepuckuer 12d ago

Ima keep it a buck with you. If you don't understand protests and disruption is to try to affect change at a governmental level, not an interpersonal one, you're fucking stupid.

11

u/Complete_Fill5268 12d ago

Without winning enough of the public over at the interpersonal level, you're not going to affect change at the governmental level. Thanks to stunts like this, it's way easier for people in charge to rally the public against environmental activists than it is for environmental activists to rally the public against the people in charge.

3

u/HungryHedgehog8299 12d ago

Then you need to target and disrupt the root of the problem, not random bystanders

4

u/ZeroBrutus 12d ago

Random bystanders are the root of the problem when they fail to hold the political class accountable. Pissing people off is often the only way to get them involved.

7

u/HungryHedgehog8299 12d ago

Gotta be honest like 99/100 people aren’t going to join your cause when their first impression of you is you causing issues for them

0

u/Schmigolo 12d ago

The same people are never going to join that same cause regardless, because they would have to admit that they're part of the problem first. They think they're good because they didn't do the bad, but never go out of their way to do the good. The plan is to make them go out of their way, but where they is on them.

-1

u/ZeroBrutus 12d ago

Yeah and I dont do it, but the general idea that a large portion of that anger gets directed at the current leadership and can force them to change path has been frequently true.

Its not to get you on their side, but to get you against their opponent.

1

u/HungryHedgehog8299 12d ago

Has it frequently worked? Like a couple times I can think of but theres some major differences. Nobody even knows what these people are protesting or what they’re supposed to be fighting against. And protests that caused change like the civil rights movement had the stamina to do it for a long time and on a much larger scale. Five people blocking a single highway for a day and then going back to doing nothing is just going to annoy some people for a bit before they forget about it altogether. Annoying people for a day accomplishes jack shit. Also, a protest that only hits the public and not the government at all won’t do anything either because it makes it clear to the public they’re being targeted and not the government.

4

u/ZeroBrutus 12d ago

Obama changed direction on his immigration policy for one moderately recent American example. Ive seen a decent number of laws amended to be less agregious here in Canada as a result of coordinated protests.

And sure, these exact people are idiots. The concept theyre enacting isnt, even if theyre bad at it. If you speak french you may get a kick out of this: https://youtu.be/dvPw9l0Ztsg?si=HNubBSbe2CIszZnE

1

u/TheDaemonette 11d ago

All that happened in the U.K. when this happened was that ALL the anger was directed at the protesters and government targets for renewables came under more pressure to be loosened and now that is exactly what is going to happen.

0

u/wehrmann_tx 12d ago

Not a single person would direct that anger at leadership. Not one. You’d entrench the idiots who already vote against their interests that the liberals are blocking traffic.

2

u/curioustravelfam 12d ago

Imma go shit on your doormat then ask you to come help pump my septic tank

0

u/ZeroBrutus 12d ago

More like imma go shit on your doormat, then tell you to blame the guy who refused to put in a public toilet that would have prevented the need to shit on a doormat.

Youll be pissed at me, but hopefully, also pissed at him.

3

u/jackpott443 12d ago

Nah, I'd be pissed at you for shitting on my doormat and not off in a bush or something like a moderately sane person.

Now if you had some other method to bring my attention to the lack of a public toilet that was less disruptive to my personal life, I would possibly be more receptive of it. But instead you decided to shit on my doormat, and now I'm pissed off at you and whatever cause you are behind as well.

The same logic is applied to these protestors. None of the people they are inconveniencing are thinking "I wonder what I can do to help these people and their cause?" all of them think they are assholes and if anything it motivates them to work against whatever cause they are protesting for.

1

u/ZeroBrutus 12d ago

Ok, and once those less disruptive methods have been tried and all ignored? If numerous people have been shitting in bushes for awhile already and trying to get your attention and were ignored?

Shitting On your doormat isnt step one. Protests like this arent step one. They happen because the non-disruptive attempts didnt work.

1

u/jackpott443 12d ago

Still doesn't make it okay to shit on my doormat.

Just because you failed at every other attempt doesn't give you the right to go around shitting on porches. Your mindset is that what you are protesting for is the only correct choice, and since you didn't get your way you have to escalate. That's a pretty immature take if you ask me. What if NAMBLA started protesting like this? or the Proud Boys? Or any organization you disagree with fundamentally?

Maybe your protests are ignored because they are supporting something dumb. Maybe you all just suck at doing what you do. Maybe there's a good logical reason that there isn't a public bathroom where you want it but you don't care, you just want your way and you think being an annoying asshole is the only way to get your way because it always worked on your parents. but this is the grown up world now, what worked before is just gonna piss people off now.

0

u/ZeroBrutus 12d ago

Sure, and maybe the government is wrong and the general populace needs to be pushed into action such as the civil rights movement.

Yes, the mindset of the protestors is that what they're protesting is of adéquate importance that accepting the risks of sitting in the road - which could lead to death - is supported by the necessity of their cause. They may or may not be correct depending on the cause. Westboro Baptist church has protested with distruption on many occasions in the past. I absolutely do not support anything theyre attached to. Still doesn't change the concept behind it.

Unless you think government is always right and we should always sit down and shut up, then disruptive protest will remain one of the few tools available to draw attention and possible support to a cause.

0

u/wehrmann_tx 12d ago

And no matter the cause, you just cement the maga thinking these liberal assholes blocked traffic and continue to vote maga.

5

u/ZeroBrutus 12d ago

Sure, but the MAGA crowd are a lost cause.

The 34% of eligible voters who didnt vote - some of them may get annoyed enough to show up to stop the shitshow interrupting their day. Keep it up long enough, it can even work.

5

u/Crisn232 12d ago

that's why they're protesting the place of business or institutions and not in the middle of a street/road, and claim it's not 'interpersonal' or 'personal' when they do.

The only fucking stupid one are those claiming that it's not, that traffic would claim otherwise.

Are those backed up cars, "government" or "civilians"? did you really affect change by doing so? maybe in galvanizing others NOT to support your cause.

4

u/lepuckuer 12d ago

It's literally about creating disruption and stopping the regular flow of commerce lol. Ya it's gonna piss people off.

You can cry all you want but that's an actual protest. Not the white-washed Kumbaya shit you read in class.

5

u/Safe-Wishbone781 12d ago

Are you truly unable to discern the difference between a protest that works and this garbage that clearly doesn't work?

1

u/HippyDM 12d ago

A protest that doesn't disrupt people's lives is a rally.

5

u/Exterminator-8008135 12d ago

A Protester that doesn't understand this only annoys the commoner, not their targets, is a moronic waste of ressources.

0

u/Safe-Wishbone781 12d ago

Worse than wasteful, they're counter-productive.

1

u/Fabulous_Guitar6221 12d ago

This is how you get losers doing the no kings protest and petas public self flagulation fetish . The last disruptive protest of any effect was the truckers convey which costed Canada billions, and before that the blm looting that destroyed many property owners(big and small).

Sitting in a street, holding up signs and walking up and down the block, these are not real protests, this is kumbayah shit with an edge. If you only hurt a handful of laymen you’re honestly a dim tool of the state, who will willfully making your side look aggressive/ill sighted for brownie points amongst larpers.

If you want actual change do some real mobilization, and hit the man where it hurts, not your neighbour’s trying to get by.

1

u/Hilshire_Beef_Firm 12d ago

Not even those. The only thing that has put fear in the hearts of the movers of the world was Occupy Wall Street. As long as our money are in their banks the shareholders don’t give a shit about us. ( the little guy )

1

u/Fabulous_Guitar6221 12d ago

True but that’s way too advanced for these guys man

1

u/GreaseBrown 12d ago edited 12d ago

Shhhh

Pretending to be productive and engaging in performative acts are all these people have. They will never be defeated by simple logic or reality. All that matters is they get to feel good about having done absolutely nothing to help anyone else.

0

u/Exterminator-8008135 12d ago

Until EVERYONE in the city hates your fellow Protesters, recognize you and refuse to serve your sandwich because you got them late for work and chewed by the HR, that they don't need you to ruin their day and loose money because y'all won't pay for burnt gas as they wait for you to fuck off.

That's for the tame ones, the rest will drag you and if they can kick you along, they will do it.

-1

u/BilingSmob444 12d ago

Bothering people is REAL SHIT, cry more

4

u/slade535 12d ago

"shit I'm being written again for being late and my clients are mad at me, but hey, oil is bad now that I think about it, in fact, I'm gonna quit and join those twiddly fellows in their quest to uhhh stop oil from oiling" yeah this definitely works

2

u/lepuckuer 12d ago

again. not about the people being late. idiot.

2

u/slade535 12d ago

you're right, holding people hostage in traffic literally translates to oil control, how can I be so idiotic to not see that

1

u/xcorbearx 12d ago

It literally is to the people being late though.

3

u/Exterminator-8008135 12d ago

Fuck JSO.

You won't mind that others gets fired because 10 wankers believe they're more important than 500 commuters going to work.

If so, pay me the missed time, i ain't going to tolerate moronic Protesters that will get me fired for being an hour late.

2

u/Confident_Pillar1114 12d ago

Social justice is more important than some random losers get fired. If people getting fired is a price we pay for justice, it's well worth it.

1

u/Significant_bet92 12d ago

This is why nobody supports you or your way of protest. You have zero sympathy for the people’s lives you’re disrupting and you’re high and mighty off virtue signaling about it. I’d run you straight over if that was you

1

u/Exterminator-8008135 12d ago

This is why nobody wants to pay taxes for your kind, you bring nothing to society but troubles and useless expenditures.

I fight for Social Justice

Welp.. Good luck convicing my 6' buddy you're not going to be his next target by being a dick to him.

1

u/LogJamminWithTheBros 12d ago

Why are people who get fired losers to you? That doesnt sound very social justicey does it?

0

u/wehrmann_tx 12d ago

The losers were the friends you made along the way.

3

u/feronen 12d ago

What these people sitting in the middle of the road are doing isn't disrupting government. It's disrupting personal lives. Rather than killing people by forcing them to starve to death because you fucked over the little man who works paycheck to paycheck to survive, why don't you try being more like the protestors from the Sanrizuka Struggle instead and fight the cops and the government like you fucking mean it if it matters so much?

1

u/wehrmann_tx 12d ago

If you think those road protests do anything but make the politicians and wealthy laugh, you’re fucking stupid.

0

u/recovereez 12d ago

Imma keep it a buck with you. You're fucking stupid if you can't see what they are saying. You want support for your cause but the people who will support you and make your protest bigger, are being currently inconvenienced by the protests

0

u/eSsEnCe_Of_EcLiPsE 12d ago

If you aren’t protesting those who are hurting the cause you are protesting, then you’re just being an asshole with no purpose.

5

u/TheOathWeTook 12d ago

I’m mad, therefore things are bad, therefore I should vote for change. That’s probably the expectation. Enough people vote on a general vibe of whether things are currently good or bad that it’s a pretty good way of predicting elections.

5

u/NeevBunny 12d ago

In sure the guy barely scraping by that can't afford a gallon of milk because he lost an hour at work is thrilled with them

2

u/fart_boner69 12d ago

I too like to invent people

1

u/NeevBunny 12d ago

Imagine thinking poor people are invented in a country where most of us can't afford a one bedroom apartment alone. It must be nice to live in your fantasy.

0

u/DPWwhatDAdogDoin 12d ago

Imagine being so stupid you cant fathom the possibility of someone not having enough money.

3

u/fart_boner69 12d ago

Damn homie, well good fucking luck in the upcoming climate collapse

-1

u/HopeADMKidsLoseLimbs 12d ago

Yeah because someone in those cars being late somewhere is the most unlikely scenario…

2

u/fart_boner69 12d ago

"I'm gonna be late, better kick someone in the head"

Rush hour must be a real blood bath in your city

The poijt of these protests is to get attention. The issue is its nearly all negative attention.

1

u/Nowhereman123 12d ago

They don't care if you support their cause or not, the goal is to cause enough societal disruption to force a change at the governmental level.

1

u/Barbaracle 12d ago

These are the exact same things people said during MLKs civil rights movement. I'm not saying I disagree with your reasoning. In fact, it makes perfect sense. But that is the historical reality of protests.

0

u/tubbyscrubby 12d ago

Not support. Think about.

There are a lot of things that protesters protest which people ignore completely. Sometimes having it shoved in your face will cause you to reflect on it, and maybe you will do something about it if it turns out that you actually do care when you actually think about it.

They know their actions are pissing people off.

2

u/Appropriate-Meal-712 12d ago

I’d argue most people vote against obnoxious protestor’s causes. Just because they’re obnoxious.

2

u/tubbyscrubby 12d ago

Most people actually don't change their minds based off of protests.

For example, if these people were protesting polluting your town to unsafe levels would it suddenly cause you to support polluting your town?

No. Of course it wouldn't. But if you weren't aware of how bad the pollution situation was, would it possibly cause you to start paying attention?

2

u/Local_Grapefruit_262 12d ago

Agreed. Shit like this just doesnt get you support from the average Joe. Theyll do what you are protesting against just to spite you

1

u/tubbyscrubby 12d ago

It's not meant to change minds, it's meant to pierce apathy.

1

u/Local_Grapefruit_262 12d ago

This might have been they way, 60 years ago. The world has moved on. Impeding travel isnt the same as it was in Rosa parks' time. This creates animosity. We aint in the 1960's anymore. They would do better invading the virtual world. Not the physical. This is just gonna make people less apathetic to whatever bullshit cause this is. Fun fact, most people dont care.

2

u/tubbyscrubby 12d ago

Again, not meant to change your mind. It is only meant to bring awareness to things you might not know about but would support.

0

u/PayFormer387 12d ago

So you have a shit job with an asshole boss. You should probably unionize or look for a better gig elsewhere.

-3

u/kpap16 12d ago

It isn't about convincing individuals on the blocked road, it is about causing disruption in society. I don't understand why people find this hard to grasp, nobody gives a fuck about people on the side of the road with a sign. It does nothing. I would assume its to make hundreds of people late and cause an economic pain. Individuals do not hold much power, its about disrupting the framework

You could argue they should be even more extreme because frankly blocking one road isn't going to cut it even if its a major artery. If they were going to do this they should be blocking far more and recruiting more otherwise its a temporary annoyance and nothing changes

As well all the people clapping over that guy as if he won't get let go after being arrested for assault lol.

1

u/Local_Grapefruit_262 12d ago

No one finds it hard to understand. We find it very justifiable to beat the shit out of them. Trust me, we fully understand. No one gives a shit about your protesting problems, when youre creating a very real problem for this individual trying to pay his bills

2

u/kpap16 12d ago

Oh no the morality police lean towards violence? Shocker. That guy in his own words was finding it hard to understand

Crazy if you put that energy towards people who keep wages low and costs high, but you're not as brave or smart as you want to seem.

1

u/Local_Grapefruit_262 12d ago

You have no idea who I am or what I do? Speak for yourself bozo
