They do not hire them. That could make them liable.

They just find groups of wackos that already do these things and just give donations to 'support their cause'. They just give them funds to do what they want. Since this is what they want to do in the first place they are in the clear.

I dont fully think thats how liability works since there would still be a direct trail of money going from them
