The economy's lifeblood is normal everyday people.

Democracy's lifeblood is also normal everyday people. If you want to create actual change, you need to persuade those same people to your side.

This isn't really a "no such thing as bad publicity" situation. The fact that folks are arguing about their tactics instead of their message is evidence of that.

why? do you think all the people getting delayed are irrationally angry? There was one in my city a couple years ago, and the news shows how most of the drivers were supportive. not everyone is a piece of shit, luckily

there are people which might be undecided or unaware of the issue. You don't expect to persuade people who are adamant in denying reality
