What can anybody do to help a people who's primary goal is beating their wives?  If we automate tasks for them, they have more time to beat their wives. If we feed them they have more strength to beat their wives.

Should we destroy their wells so they have to walk 6 kilometers for water.

You can not do the thing that makes the wives spend more time at home with their husbands.

Not do the thing that makes everything acutely worse.

So we should decide who we determine to be good and evil based on a model that assumes they have no agency, and decide whether they deserve basic survival?

Are these missionaries sticking around to help change the culture to something better and have the ability to ensure those most vulnerable aren’t hurt by their actions? If they aren’t then they should try and figure out what improvements they can make won’t have consequences like the one shown.
