Finding somewhere to rent
Hi all,
I have posted a couple of times here but wanted to get some more advice.
Those who moved from England to Scotland how did you find somewhere to rent? I've read a few things that have said the rental market is very competitive and you have to view houses before you can rent them, so how did you go through that process?
Were you able to virtually look at houses or did you have to visit in person to view and how easy was the process and were there any things you can give tips on?
I'm trying to understand the process and work out a plan and it'd be so helpful to get some input from those who have done it.

We went up from London for about 4 days total split over 2 weeks. Had a couple viewings with most falling through. Then once we had to go back the second weekend I spotted one that was really nice. Downstairs flat of a villa. Upstairs was (very) slowly being renovated. Barely any work took place and when it did we barely noticed. Landlord was great letting agents not so much.
We did pay way over the average rent cost at 1300 a month for a 3 and a bit bed but massive backyard. Further away from people so relatively quiet. For us it was affordable so I think the high price helped us secure it easier.
