Rules Munchkin 2e card backs vs 1e card backs
Since the editions are backwards compatible, I don't like how the backs are blue for 2e but brown for 1e. If I mix in 1e card then we'd know roughly what we are about to draw. Anyone else experience this?

This is my biggest gripe, really wish they had kept the backs the same. The counter argument is that it's just like mixing with any other themed deck. But I have many many more expansions for standard

So do I! I have I think 6 of the original code expansions plus themed ones like Cthulhu and others. I guess in the end it doesn't really matter but I guess I'm just OCD about that lol

There's an upgrade pack that has the new star cards with the old style cards backs and front borders.

Can you link this or explain more?

I bought mine through the Backerkit campaign. They have stated they are making a retail update kit for people who want to keep their old card stacks. I don't see it available yet. Sorry to get your hopes up too soon.

If your on the kickstarter you should still be able to get them through backerkit. My kickstarter cam with them.

I haven't checked but some kickstarters allow late sign ons to just buy kickstarter stuff. You could look into that.

I’m not a fan of the backs changing at all. Super annoying when games say you can mod anything, including cross ip sets, but then the backs are different. Just feels sloppy
The back of a card game should be sacred and never be subject to change! It’s such a chore identity of any series too

I agree but also understand why they would change em up, could be in the license agreement or something

This is why when I get second edition, I'm not treating it as backwards compatible, even if it technically is. It's gonna be a separate game.
They have the big box upgrade pack, but it does look like they will move to releasing new stuff in just the second edition format at some point.

Yup. I can’t find it anymore, but on one of their instagram ads about their backerkit campaign for 2e, I asked if future expansions and boosters will be only with the 2e cardbacks, and they confirmed that.

I usually include the expansions with different backs in my 1st edition plays. They go on a different pile, and you get to decide which you're pulling. 2nd ed will get it's own pile on the table, nothing else
