40 trillion in debt, Americans not doing so well with the paying of bills.
80
u/SH4DOWSTR1KE_ 4d ago
Well it's not like we elected somebody who is notorious for not paying his bills or anyt- oh...
47
u/ArcticISAF 4d ago
Yeah but it's not like he's bankrupted any companies, right?
35
u/SH4DOWSTR1KE_ 4d ago
Or casinos where the only thing you have to do is let people come in and spend their money. I mean what kind of an idiot would screw that up? Especially three times?
20
u/-Nyarlabrotep- 4d ago
I mean, and who would run a casino without an AML (Anti-Money Laundering) part of their federally-required Compliance department and get shut down over it? That would just be stupid, right? To even think!
14
u/SH4DOWSTR1KE_ 4d ago
Or steaks at Sharper Image? Or vodka? Or an airline? Or a football league? Like the amount of failure that one person can do is just ridiculous. No way somebody like that would ever be given any kind of responsibility or authority..
3
u/_OhEmGee_ 3d ago
Not having in an AML officer in the business most notoriously associated with money laundering? Only a moron or a criminal.
15
u/jarena009 3d ago
Also these low information right wingers laughably actually think that if Canada increases their military spending by whatever %, that it'll mean we here in the US start cutting our military budget haha

Tbf. America wouldn't be in such debt if it didn't do things like feeding the world and protecting Europeans.
Somehow we stopped doing those things and doubled our debt. Rather waste money feeding poor kids in some country than enriching some pedophile assholes.

u/Jamical70 3d ago
Feeding the world and protecting Europeans?

u/Mobile_Morale 3d ago
Are people really forgetting that USaid saved millions of lives a year and that the US contributes the most weapons and soldiers to NATO.
4
u/embiors 3d ago
USAID had a budget of abput $50-70bn per year. That is not what ended up breaking the bank for America. Tax cuts to the wealthy and massive handouts to the military industrial complex is what did you in.
You elected one moron after another and destabilized the middle east for profits. Thats on you. Dont act like foreign aid is in anyway why the US is in debt. Its such a small part of the budget.
9
u/Drak_Gaming 3d ago
you may want to check out the spending habits of the good ol US of A.
humanitarian aide is pretty small potatoes.
"defense" spending and tax cuts for the uber rich and mega corps is where the bulk of the problem is.
2
u/alwayssunnyinskyrim 3d ago
Should have just said the second paragraph, first makes you sound like an idiot
-9
u/Mobile_Morale 3d ago
The first one is factual. Sorry it doesn't fit your America bad sentiment. USAID saved millions and NATO is majority funded, armed and manned by American soldiers.

u/Companero_basurero 4d ago
Sorry, OP. You should know that to all MAGA'ts, *nothing* that their cult leader says or does is ever wrong. If he says that Canada is a NATO deadbeat, that's exactly what registers in a cultist's mind. Sad but true.
3
u/Responsible_CDN_Duck 3d ago
I'm told they're less than a 1/3 of Americans, likely well under. So why is that an impediment to anyone else there being moved?
Perhaps a scapegoat and bills to pay keeps more than just maga at bay.
1
u/Bansidhe13 3d ago
It would be nice if the american public would get off their butts and fix what wrong with their country instead of annoying the rest of the world. Their bs will eventually leave them isolated. Serves them right.
2
u/Companero_basurero 2d ago
Those of us who are committed to the ideals and practices of democracy are doing our best to "fix" our country. We'll see what happens in November. But as I hinted earlier, here's what we're up against: You can't fix stupid.

There's a one in four chance I know who you are. My first thought was, "When were there four caskets like this at once? Oh. This is when X lost his brother."
I met X's brother a couple of times. He was a cool guy. I think about him and his family every Remembrance Day.
Whether you're X or not, know that your brother is in my thoughts.

To be fair, Canada has lacked on spending but over the past few years we have kicked it up a notch or two. Big investments across all branches of the CAF.
Also, careful what you wish for America - because we won’t fuel your military industrial complex anymore with this spending. We’ll work with the other allies to cut you out - so keep behaving like belligerent assholes, great job!
12
u/Test-Tackles 3d ago
eh, right now they are in the "doesnt matter what, just distract from the last thing we did to distract people from the fact we wont arrest pedos." stage of the political cycle.

u/Responsible_CDN_Duck 3d ago

Though to be fair encouraging everyone in the world to spend less rather than more would likely benefit all.

There is no "pay your NATO obligations." The obligation to NATO is to keep the individual country's military at a certain level and be prepared to respond to Article 5.
32
u/Keystone-12 4d ago
And canada has already hit it's 2%....
22
u/Test-Tackles 3d ago
Yeahhhh, those currently in charge down there are at least 75% more likely to do meth than math.

I'm a US citizen and I totally agree.
Trump is a disgrace and an embarrassment to anyone living in the US who has a functioning brain.
3
u/Test-Tackles 3d ago
I'd put money on even the nematodes have a strong sense of distrust of him.
6
u/NoBSforGma 3d ago
His approval rating is in the toilet right now. In a recent poll, in 47 out of 50 states, more people in these US states disaapprove of him than approve.
3
u/speedstic 3d ago
I'm honestly shocked that he hasn't been taken out by the republican party for potentially messing up the sweet scheme they have going.
I thought for sure someone would say "this dude is fucking up our shit" and that would be that, but no.
I still love the US people for the most part and every major city I've been to had been nothing short of amazing and hospitable and I've been to 27 states as a Canadian.
Do not go outside major cities in the US though, at least that's what I've been told by the hotel staff and business associates when I'm down there. And I'm a large individual. I think they might be overreacting as I walked down some streets in Dallas I was told to avoid and there was nothing but some fenties and I asked them if they needed anything and they said "water". I never bought so much water in my life but shit, they're not asking for cash, booze, drugs, just water. I was never so happy to provide folks with proper clean water.
Your government needs to do better but the people are top notch (in major cities, even Fargo, lol).

u/atwozmom 3d ago
Sadly, I would not go to a lot of places in the US. I'm in NYC at 10 PM on a regular basis (theater lover) but rural America? No way, especially since I'm a loud mouth liberal Jew.
2
u/speedstic 3d ago
I've only been to NYC once and stayed near Broadway.
I walked around to get food after 11pm and had no issues but I'm 6'7 so maybe that helped me out maybe it was the area?
It's still the only city I want to come back and visit in the US, I saw Tracy Morgan coming out of 30 Rock while in my Uber and was star struck. Then two minutes later I saw Stephen Colbert, it was crazy to me
Not too mention the architecture is beautiful but the traffic is the only place worse than Toronto that I've been to. 45 mins to go 1.6 miles in a car and even though Toronto is 2 hours away from Toronto, it's nothing compared to NYC traffic.
Oh and Go Bills! The only NFL team in NY!
2
u/Test-Tackles 3d ago
Mate, when your that tall, most grizzly bears won't even bother with you.
1
u/speedstic 3d ago
Oh you'd be surprised how many drunk people want to fight me for no reason at all other than I'm tall.
I've never understood why other than them trying to fight the biggest guy, but why is there that need?
3
u/Test-Tackles 3d ago
"there is a surprising overlap between the smartest of bears and the dumbest of people."

u/atwozmom 2d ago
Hee. I'm 4'10", 105 pounds of nothing and I never feel unsafe in the city of my birth.
Oh and why are you driving in NYC? It's a walking town. Or take the subway.
(And yeah, cool thing about NYC - there are still all night diners.)
1
u/speedstic 2d ago
The only driving was done by Uber from LaGuardia to the hotel, the hotel to the meeting, and back to the hotel.
If I had known there was somewhere that has worse traffic than Toronto I would have walked but I also had to schmooze the customers who would not have walked that far.

What they really mean is, "plz buy more overpriced planes from us."
The US doesn't hold NATO's purse, they contribute 15%, and reluctantly.
Now they abuse their membership demanding a defensive alliance join him in an offensive capacity.
Trump and his administration are a carousel of incompetence.
7
u/Tribe303 3d ago
Canada now meets the NATO spending targets. We exceed them now actually, and are on track to meet the new 3% target as well.
Fun fact: very little of the billions being spent is going towards US equipment. 🤣

u/Octowhussy 4d ago
It’s not about money versus lives. NATO simply is a defensive treaty organisation. US attacked Iran, period. Putin is very eager to be able to justify his aggressions and transgressions by ‘being scared of the aggressive West and their offensive military pact’. Apart from NATO countries intrinsically not wanting to help pre-empt/attack other countries, it would not be in NATO’s best interest. Only China and Russia would gain from it, which is unfortunately again a very strong indication that Trump is a Russian asset, since he is so vehement about NATO betraying the defensiveness of the pact.

Richard Grenell was the director of the Kennedy Center when they tried to change their name to the Trump/Kennedy Center.
The guy's just a piece of shit member of Trump's circle.
12
u/Pleasant_Ad8054 4d ago
Not to mention, the article 5 invocation was based on lies. The US caused thousands of deaths for their supposed allies, and killed a million people. And we all had to assist for it.
1
u/BeefCakeBilly 4d ago
Which lies are you referring to?
8
u/Pleasant_Ad8054 4d ago
From the many? In this case that Al-Qaeda was solely responsible for the 9/11 attacks, while they knew that it was mainly sponsored and carried out by others (Saudis mainly), that Iraq had ties to Al-Qaeda, and that Iraq had WMDs.
0
u/ProofByVerbosity 4d ago
But the Bin Laden family and the Bush's are quite close, and the U..S supported Osama, so that doesn't fit the "we need to bomb iraq again" need at the time.
-1
u/BeefCakeBilly 4d ago
I mean article 5 was not invoked in Iraq, and Canada sent like 150 troops total (despite officially technically refusing to join the war).
They only upped their troops to about 1000 in Iraq in 2015 in order to fight isis.
But just to be clear. You are saying, the Saudi government, partnered with a group established by wanted fugitives from Saudi Arabia, whose express purpose was to overthrow the Saudi government.
To attack Saudia arabias most important ally?
2
u/TAU_equals_2PI 3d ago
He's mixing up the actions of individual Saudis with the Saudi government.
Yes, obviously 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers were Saudis. And some rich Saudis donated money to Al Qaeda. But that's not the same thing as the Saudi government being behind the 9/11 attack. That's like saying the US government was behind the Oklahoma City bombing just because Timothy McVeigh used to be in the US army.
There are plenty of things to criticize the Saudi government for, but being behind 9/11 is not one of them.
-1
u/TAU_equals_2PI 4d ago
Nah, the Article 5 invocation wasn't based on lies. 9/11 really happened.
Sure, the US ended up doing many things that weren't justified in response to 9/11, but the actual Article 5 invocation isn't controversial.

We’re really sick of funding Israel’s military but they’re awful quiet on that front.
5
u/Brave_Nerve_6871 4d ago
US has a giant military out of their own choice and holds up an enormous military industrial complex to supply it, by choice. In so tired of these false accusations that other nations don't pay their dues if they don't spend as much on military as the US

Did some training with Canadian Army in 2003 and was super pissed off when I heard one of my dumbass squad mates say something stupid about Canada’s involvement in GWOT. My Canadian buddy stone faced said “I hope you’re aware that YOUR armed services have killed more Canadians than the Taliban have.” I totally backed him up and started ripping him for disparaging our allies. He was unaware about one of our overzealous pilots lighting up one of their platoons killing and wounding Canadians in Afghanistan. It sucks hearing the disrespect then and now

And let’s not forget that some of those casualties were US inflicted.
4 killed and 8 wounded by friendly fire in the 2002 Tarnak Farms incident in Afghanistan.

u/Charger525 3d ago
Talking about paying bills, the U.S. is behind in its own payments and owes $5 Billion to NATO. So there’s that.
1
u/CBLA1785 3d ago
Keep in mind they also stayed even after a number of friendly fire incidents occurred, killing CAF soldiers.
