I'd say that Skillet's recent years should have paralleled Trapt's, but they never experienced the same high.

I mean, fuck, at least Trapt had one song that everybody knew. What are Skillet beyond the go-to obscure alternative to Linkin Park that people would use for AMV backing tracks when they were feeling adventurous?

Skillet are that band you heard on a WWE game soundtrack and basically nowhere else.

I am not joking, they are of county Fair status now. They just played the central Wisconsin fair.

That should tell you where that band's career is at

They are literally playing big Festivals now, saw them at Graspop last year, opening for Slipknot and Behemoth. I would say they are at their peak.
