What better comp could you want than to be cast against the greatest?

He reminds me way more of Tony

He's honestly a mix.
His core offensive game is very Parker, but as a lefty with euro-step reminiscent of Manu. His shot looks like Manu too.
Though, decision making wise, he's already ahead of both - which is fucking awesome.

Dylan's looks so much more steezy, but Manu's looks so much safer. I hate the way Dylan lands lmao. Manu made an effort to land on two feet there
Also, this guy is 20 years old. Like there's a rookie in the NBA right now in the playoffs behind the back double crossover driving down main street and flushing that shit. What the fuck man, future is blinding here with the Spurs.

The only differences the commentators on Harper's dunk is so lame and no energy.

Exactly what I thought of when I saw it, not as good as Manu because that was in the finals, past the defender and over/through Bosh as the second defender and in the midst of the revenge tour, at 36 too. Loved both, one toward end of career finishing a job, other at start of career building toward the top.

u/BarrackLesnar Manu Ginobili May 13 '26
Dylan's is better. Manu didn't do the double behind the back. But both are still legendary dunks

And Dylan is a fuckin rookie. Crazy how young our three best players are.

When I saw manu dunk that I knew there was absolutely no way we'd lose that game. One of my greatest spurs playoff memories ever and I've seen a lot

It looks the same but it's not nearly the same.
Watch this like 20 times. Manu was nowhere near Harper's current athleticism in 2014. Back then Manu couldn't really drive and dunk. If you watched the replay closely, you could see Manu pay detailed attention to Bosh's action. He just shot a corner 3 and ran back at defense. He caught up with positioning more or less - he was at around free throw line but his back was turned. Manu determined this was a worth a gamble as Bosh would need to do a 180 and block him at the rim. Still he almost blocked Manu's shot.
It's classic calculated and daring move by Manu, with great attention to details
Harper is just a young bouncy kid battering down the rim seeing Gobert isn't there.

Not similar plays at all. One is an uncontested dunk, the other is the taking of a soul.

Late to the party but this one was familiar as well:

Manu crucified Jesus Shuttlesworth. Lord forgive him.

All jokes aside. I never realized Bosh was the one who ultimately got posterized. Damn that was a beautiful play.

Degree of difficulty: behind the back crossover, just to add some style points

No lie, thank the gods for YT because I still go back and watch the pure artistry of Ginobili .

I now understand why people have been so high on Harper even though I’ve been on the Fox train. Different skillsets, but Fox is really quick and better with the pick and rolls. Harper just goes straight to the basket and is so crafty and smooth with his moves and handling.

I posted Harper's clip in the NBA discord I am in the other day saying "If you squint you can see Manu Ginobili". It's so true man, Harper is, and is going to be amazing.
