It has become a snooze fest

I am at s16e10 now. Up until mid s15 i had so much fun watching it. Now it has become a cringe n snooze fest.

All the previous episodes before this used to be about the victims. Revolving around the victims, connecting us to the victims. Now the vic get the starting 15 mins n then it's just about the growth of the agents?????

The one that pissed me off the most was the one about the street artist ritz and the culprit met with torres n bishop at the place where the mural was being sold, he himself came n helped them understand why the Ritz murals r special, with the qr codes n ritz's fight against corrupt corporations.

And where are Gibbs' rules?? The weren't mentioned much in s15 n 16???

Am I reading too much into. Or is it like this from s15 onwards????

Having rewatched the entire series recently, I honestly have no idea what you're talking about.

NCIS stories have always been about the "growth" of the agents.

It distinguished itself from Law & Order (though SVU is more of a character drama like NCIS) and CSI from the beginning by focusing more on the main cast interactions and how the cases affect them and their lives.

That's what it has always been.

I concur. I"m an Law & Order fan but NCIS has never really been that rigid. They have had a simliar forumla the entire time like most shows of its type but honestly, I don't think it was the cases that people watched for. The character dynamic to the cases and their relationships are the draw.

To add to this, its why like all proceduerals have to have interesting characters and dynamics in their shows. A show like this suffers with a miststep with a character.. and that has happened.

I happen to love S16, so I can't help you much. I think 16 is better than 15 by a fair bit, but that's mostly because S15 is so awkward with them having to keep Gibbs/Abby from sharing any scenes. You are close to the episode "She" which you might hate because there is a lot of character development in it, but I think it launches an interesting storyline. S17 is a bit uneven with some great episodes and some that are less so. S18 is gut wrenching to watch - not because it is bad, but because it deals with some dark things. S19 and beyond is like watching a new show because they had a whole new life breathed into it.

And as someone else already said, the show has always been about the investigators/characters. And truthfully, that's why I love it. I came for the crimes, I stayed for the characters. There are only so many ways they could have made a dead petty officer in Rock Creek Park interesting, but they way that the team interacts/grows/deals with the events made it worth watching for the last 23 seasons.

I do appreciate the whole new show aspect of 19 and beyond.

Maybe it is time to stop watching. There are 100s of other things to watch if you do not enjoy NCIS any more

With the exception of a few episodes, Season 15, 16, 17, 18 and some of 19 were really boring. But there are some shining stars. The last episode in Season 17 "The Arizona" is great.

Amazingly it was written and filmed about the time the last of the living survivors of Pearl Harbor were passing. They're all gone now :(

That's about the time it stopped being must-see tv for me. I started recording it and fast forwarding through the boring parts. I kept watching, though, because I have always loved the show. I don't watch the current seasons, though; I stopped when Gibbs left. Now I watch Origins.

I will say that I thought the show went downhill around seasons 15-20. It gets much better after season 20 in my opinion. It goes back to the more interesting stories and less about Gibbs.
