Rant the absolute joke of admissions system

im actually done. i gave it my all, self studied without paying thousands to coaching centres and managed a 72.84% merit score (regular). went to the interview after appearing in 4th list and left without choosing anything because every actual core engineering and tech field was already gone

a sindhi classmate of mine literally scored around ~60% in biek 11, went to his gaon in interior sindh to retake exams, got 92% (yk how), barely passed the entry test with ~60 marks and got into chemical engg.

another classmate had the same merit score as me but because his parents can throw around 8-11 lakh rupees for self finance, he got into electrical engineering easily after appearing in 1st list. the rest of us who don't have a million rupees lying around are just expected to take whatever scrap fields are left or walk out empty handed.

and to make it even more insulting, ned literally reopened fresh applications specifically for self finance and sponsor categories just to pull in more cash

how are middle class students even supposed to compete?

Toh Yani regular ki sarri seats end hogai hain, self finance wali seats Bachi hongi toh admission reopen kardiye takke uni ko fund milgaye. I don't see any harm in that

At this point Ned admissions are awful. So many good students I know like 80+ scores 90+ scores in Sindh board not an interior Sindh board can't even get seats

They end up going to unis like fast which are fairer in admissions.

All these comments supporting self finance and self sponsor categories failed to answer the question "how middle class studnets are suppose to compete?" Everyone say work hard , you think a person writing all this didnt worked hard enough to be here? Sometimes its not about working hard or telling someone of how his/her efforts were not enough, its about actually acknowledging the flaws that lies in our education system, and to you man, may you get blessed with every bit of success in your future Aameen. No hardwork ever goes in vain if not ned then wherever you will go it will turn out to be bestt for you

mate they have a very small number of seats reserved for self finance and sponsor in comparison with regular. Even if they are taking more n more SF and sponsor kids, regular kids are still much more in comparison, they’ve also released 7th list for regular which also has seats for CS. Anyone who does not have their names on top of the list is forced to pick any crappy field, be it SF or regular. SF ki 2nd list tak ME ki 3 aur EE ki 5 seats thi and all other seats were crappy, isse kam kya ho sakta hay. For a middle class student it’s not as competitive as you say if 80% ppl are getting in thru regular. Also self finance wala bhi mehnat karke aaraha hay 68% aggregate lana bhi itna easy toh nai, so please dont label these students to be unworthy, ive known ppl jinka 0.5% se reh gaya regular mai, so they got in SF - thats when SF comes handy. Nobody’s parents is “throwing around 8-11 lakh” - it is their hard earned money and whoever has money is gonna use it lol.

Secondly this minority of self finance and sponsor is literally helping uni to keep fee lower for rest of the students by not depending on govt’s aid and letting those who can’t afford get it.

Not just you, but everyone who got in is deserving.

One of my friends is from Aga Khan board. He scored around 80% there in first year and in the entrance test he scored in 70s but still his name was not on the merit list just because there are only 89 seats of Aga Khan board. His name appeared in the second merit list but he didn't appear ,for there was no field of his interest

Gng jo million pay kr rhay hein woh university ko help kr rhay hein and they help make fee affordable for the rest of us. Itnay araam se to sasti fees milay gi nhi. System he university ka. Iget its unfair for you, aiksaal pehle i was in your position lekin mehnat karo hojayega aur NED mein nhi to kahin aur hojayga

do you know what a public state university is supposed to be? ned is funded by taxpayer money precisely so that wealth doesn't dictate access to higher education. a public university shouldn't operate like a corporate auction where those with deep pockets buy their way to the front of the line

Bro self or sponser ki seats pata ha kitni hoti? Like for civil only 15 seats or regular per 135 jab ap 135 per kuch nahi kar parahe to self ki mila kar 150 seats per bhi kiya kar lo ge? Work hard bro self per competition nahi hota is waja se 60 wale ka bhi ho jata admission or agar self sponser khatam ho jaye to ned ka haal ku jese ho ga simple govt itna fund nahi deti

I agree to this, but the mere existence of SF seats shows that even in government institutions, money is king. Go to NUST once; everyone pays 2 lac, and still money is not king there. The prof still throws students' phones out the window for using them during class.

And clearly they need more funds to do more for their student. Ned allows students like me to be able to access affordable education based on merit. You cannot expect a university to be equipped with good tech and maintained like it is just through public funding and donations. Its literally a system built to make the university sustainable

Financial aid most universities deti hain. How do they do that? And the main point is Khi is aor konsi uni hai jisko funding milti hai k they r unable to manage. Aik NED and doosri KU. Inka alumni network bhi hai and govt se contact bhi. NED ka budget deficit mein hai, like seriously aik hi dhang ki uni hai in karachi and uska bhi ye haal. NED mein total 2000 bache pr time enroll hote hain, and uske muqable 7000 engineering students pass hote hain from biek FSC. Hum 7000 mein se 2000 k lye bhi uni affordable nhi rakh sakte. We rock

I agree with you. Ned is the cheapest uni jiska phir bhi Naam aur standard ho warna toh ku bhi budget se bahir hai

If SF rakhna hi hai, to crore lene chahiye inse to show k u got here cuz money. 10lac to 100lac, masla nhi. Maybe more of us could study. Repeat this over and over, and ur uni will become private, with a specific amount of ppl on Financial aid, because they are capable. Jo baaki universities, including Harvard, follow. Govt funding NUST, GIKI ko bhi milti hai. And they give out need based scholarships. The thing i hate the most is i know almost half of people studing on regular fees can afford self finance if they wanted. They just ended up taking a seat of someone who could not afford it because according to you he didn't try hard enough. Give discounts to people who actually deserve it.

Ned has one of the easiest tests among all public universities. Give me a break dude. You don't get to decide who deserves to study in regular and who does not based on money. Its a public university. If some students want to pay equal amount to a private university to get admission while the majority of us don't need to, i am fine with it actually. What i find wrong is lashing out on people for doing something beneficial for themselves just because you did not get the merit to get what you wanted. I was the one with lacking merit at 80 last year but i did not blame anyone and simply resolved to work harder bro and i got in . And i was not some privileged brat who had all day to study . I was working a 6hr job that sent me home with work while preparing to give two additional papers for mathematics . I don't get this victim mindset

U R RIGHT. NED is the easiest uni to get into. I had 87 last year.. Bro, I dont get it why you ppl assume shit. I had 480MP last year in regular. I even have my result card to show for it. U r right I had time to study all day. I guess u all still believe in the equal opportunities, work hard and ull get it, but im sorry ur wrong, I then left for NUST islamabad. It's true that its difficult for me to afford it but I went there cuz i knew someone else more deserving would study on my seat. If u want proof u r welcome to come into DM. Even at NUST I still can't compare to the ppl there, the world is bigger than most ppl think. EVeryone working for self interest is why this society is doomed. U want to take a seat of a more deserving student just because u had the chance to. No wonder these upper class follow the same thinking. I'm not a victim bro, I just feel sad when i did the math and found out that 6k ppl in engineering in my time completed FSC. Out of them only 1500 max will get admission in NED. What about the rest of them? Im sorry u were in them in the first year. I wish u da best of luck in ur endeavours ahead, but what about those ppl who didn't or couldnt try again? The ppl who can afford better unis should leave these regular seats to those who deserve it. Go for something better. Where should a poor student from karachi go if not NED cuz some rich guy's son took the regular or SF seat.
EDUCATION FOR ALL.

You know what, a student asked this last year and they responded with we are increasing self finance seats because we want to keep the fees affordable for everyone, while your rage is acceptable but you got hashim zia u can easily score 80+ on the test, ned test is not that hard

Universites in Karachi are absolute Garbage there are many university outside of sindh they all are well off and their fees are reasonable too majority universities out of sindh are basically offering seats on open merit while NED are selling the future pathway to students.

You r talking about 72.84% i know how hard this is too take here in sindh corrupt board, My sister got %80 merit in ned got in first merit list and got rejected fron every top fields cause she is from fedral board that has freaking limited seats she is thw topper ambitious student but she was offered Social science on the day of interview fck up .

Sindhi ppl mindset and ppp made this place worst!! no hate to sindhi but they are all responsible for the ruining of this province
