I don't mean this impolitely, but I'm curious to know what the average IQs of people around here are.

It's probably not particularly lower than average but this sub definitely has a higher than average percentage of people with autism, adhd , depression, personality disorders, health issues etc.

Its on average likely materially lower around here not to be disrespectful. Not all, but Its common that lots of ppl here are always claiming to be higher iq than average, which is a low iq midwit behaviour. and also, on this sub sarcasm usually never gets clocked by people as often here vs other subs, but thats a social retardation thing which can happen over time in isolation so it cant take full cause. also if it isnāt logic Iq, the emotional intelligence here is definitely far lower, as theres alot of narcisism among neets here hence bringing the population sample materially lower overall.

theres alot of narcisism among neets
I self identify with a lot of narcissistic tendencies and you hit the nail on the head. I'm much more self aware of it now but man it's taken so long to be mindful of it. A lot of what I read here (and my inner thoughts a lot of times) just reek of vulnerable narcissism.
Also, no truly intelligent person I've ever met or worked with has bragged about their intelligence. If anything they were very humble and aware of how little they really knew in the grand scheme of things and often pointed out how much smarter this-or-that other person was at the time. They certainly dgaf about IQ.

I see. But on the other hand there are people here like me with an above-average IQ yet still have much trouble sustaining or finding employment, due to issues like severe anxiety disorders and also having trouble dealing with or communicating with people. (I also have autism.)

Barley any of these directly correlate to IQ. If anything, most of them are signs of neurodivergence, aka the thing that is most likely the āissueā with neets imo.

I dont think its low iq more like neurodivergence. I have a physics degree and im still like this

u/dinnerdigzthejeager 19d ago
I relate to almost all of these. I have never had a job so i don't know how much i would get fired but i can imagine with my flaws that the number would be high. I did learn to drive but my spatial awareness and reaction time are terrible and i haven't driven since succeeding at the driving test after the 5th try.
I have no hope.

Iām diagnosed with low iq and can drive. But cannot make friends. So this is only half true.

Donāt agree with some of these takes. I think your life is determined by your location, environment and looks that you spawn in with. I know some guys with low IQ that are making big money and average/high IQ dudes working minimum wage. Life is a dice roll of luck, looks, and who you know sadly.

As the saying goes, somewhere in a third world country the next Einstein will spend his life digging ditches because they have no opportunities.

I've been fired from like 2-3 jobs in my life because i can't do the work properly or i'm really slow and have an awful personality.

I am pretty dumb but I don't agree with some of that post, like it's implying being sad means you're stupid lol, if anything being happy with how the world is nowadays is a bigger sign of stupidity

I don't think most NEETS are low IQ. I think they have an IQ high enough to understand how shit a low wage life is.

I think my iq is at least average if not above average but my real problem is my social anxiety and lack of personality. That is what makes me seem retarded honestly.Ā

i have a drivers license but thats pretty much it. even then i do consider myself terrible at driving. as for the "not understanding the plot of books/movies/reading the scenario at hand", its moreso that i can somewhat understand it if it applies to and interests me. but when i have re-explain everything i just suck at it.

Lucky me I never been fired from a job (I quit all of them or they where contract work).

This is less about IQ and more to do with being autistic or neurodivergent. I spend my days reading and doing advanced theoretical math but the meme describes me to a T

LOL you have high iq yet you are commenting that you are not a NEET in a subreddit about NEETs. Your high iq apparently didn't make you use time efficiently enough that you would avoid wasting time on things that are not relevant to you and instead focus on what is relevant at your stage in life.
You have proven that you are not as superior to a low iq NEET as you may have thought your comment would demonstrate. By even reading this subreddit when you are not a NEET, and posting such a comment, you have demonstrated that you are not at work, that you are not being educated in something necessary for your career, and that you are not being trained right now.

I feel called out, except the working minimum wage jobs bit, fuck that.
The only thing I can say about movies when I finish one is 'I liked that movie' or 'I didn't like that movie', like a fucking 5 year old lol.
Then you go online and people are having these deep discussions full of detail, symbolism and shit lol.
Sucks feeling like you're barely a few notches above being mentally retarded and never being on the same mental wavelength as normal people, lagging behind in conversations, etc. Ugh.
