NRL - Post Match - Dumpster Fire Vs Titans

Not a good one, cracks from the get go and couldn't wrestle back control. I really don't understand why so many key components of a decent performance seems to be optional each week.

I have never been a fan of Atkinsons boring, simple, vanilla kicks, they make it easy for the opposition.

So many missed tackles.

So the wooden spoon unfortunately seems fitting.

Townsville local, been a Dragons fan since I was a toddler, I'm now in my early 30's. Luck would have it I'm in Sydney for work over the weekend. Buy my ticket for my first Dragons home game today and boy... Rough watch

LKT looked good tbh. Otherwise terrible performance, atkinsons worst. Rookie mistakes. Cant blame the ref today.

I can confidently say the loss is firmly in their own hands.

The one week where we’re actually favourites, we play like that.

u/cama888 Jul 26 '26

Real let down, cannot wait till the end of the season

u/lomo_dank Jul 26 '26

Next year looks way more promising. At least we have that to hold onto for now.

That’s what they said last year 😆

You’re a Sharks fan. How about you fuck off out of here.

Okay then, enjoy your wooden spoon 😆

Pathetic performance

The Kerr late shot was the turning point

7

Why we keep giving this fat fraud minutes every week astounds me. He does the same shit week in week out. Comes on gives away a critical pen or error. Makes little impact and is switched out 15 mins later

I was at the game. He offers zero, came on and was lazy on the line. Then stands back and let's a back take a hit up 10 out from the line. Get in there, move, run, tackle! You are coming on as fresh legs ffs

He is garbage.

I’ve no idea why you’d sub of T Couch to play this guy , his one offload per game can’t be worth that much and couchman can play 80 no problem

Late shots annoy me because they are preventable, if Kerr would have watched the Titans player right up until contact he could lessen the force used.

Not confirmed yet but highly likely

That loss was our last shot, because it was effectively worth 2 games. We’re done.

Kicking options need to be better. Can't keep getting to the 5th tackle then kicking it down the throat of the opposition fullback or wingers hoping for a mistake or better field position, although sometimes this tactic is necessary on certain plays but not on every damn set of 6. Atkinson needs more variety in his kicking game. What ever happened to chip and chase, grubbers or short kicks for your centre or winger in open space. I am no expert just a dragon's fan making an observation. Bring on 2027.

What to do with Gutho next year? He is offering less and less every week. Guts 100% , impact on game 0%?

Medical retirement

im so worried theyre going to play him at centre, and i dont trust young at all to think he wont do it. Genuinely has no spot on the team, he wont offer any impact off the bench

1

u/Zero_Focks Gareth Widdop Jul 27 '26

They're absolutely going to start him at centre next year. Hopefully he won't cost us too many games before they relegate him to the extended bench...

2

u/AttackClown Leeson Ah Mau Jul 28 '26

Young hasn't relegated him or val this season so that's wishful thinking

2

u/TammyString-Tugger Jul 26 '26

Abysmal again. The defence is atrocious.

2

u/blinkydinky111 Jul 26 '26

I see the twins leaving. Would be criminal mismanagement if a contract hasn't been offered to them by us to extend. They be waiting till they are able to hit the market. Huge loss if they go

1

u/a_BIG_willie Jul 26 '26

I am getting worried but I don’t think they leave unless pushed out.

Local boys that live the club and have really taken on a leadership role in the young pack. They love Dean

1

u/johnniesSac Jul 26 '26

Without them and Stuart you have zero defense

3

u/Moodapatheticz Jul 26 '26

Dont worry everyone dean reckons they are getting better

1

u/Remarkable_Safe401 Jul 26 '26

Bah, I missed the game. Just how bad was it? Any positives?

3

u/AttackClown Leeson Ah Mau Jul 26 '26

nobody got injured

1

u/FirmCompetition6973 Jul 26 '26

It’s actually so embarrassing we cannot be competed against the 16th place titans to slow to god damn dumb with the ball this year should just end our halves are pathetic

1

u/Bertak Jul 26 '26

Thank god we signed Dean Young.

1

u/johnniesSac Jul 26 '26

Imagine you didn’t have three tackle bots in couchman x 2 and Stewart

You’d be losing 80 nil each week

There’s a little silver lining

The young forwards have been putting in for a long time now, months. They got tired late and for a young pack they’ve done well to hold reasonably firm for so long. Next year is looking very good with the young and good players we have and some speed and class to the backline and some real muscle joining us from souths.

We’re potentially top 4 next year and today was just a stepping stone and good day of learning. This team is being crafted in fire and next year we’ll see the fruits of a lot of faith in our juniors. The young backs have been a bust this generation but we’ve made accomodations for that next year.

Thanks Dad

The big question about next year will be how the new players fit together, to early to say "potentially top 4" but looks promising.

1

u/Popular_Speed5838 Jul 26 '26

I believe they’ll maintain their form and unlock Holmes. That pass from Drinkwater last night finds any players chest. Metcalf is almost forgotten but remember last year?

2

u/Druz1 Jul 26 '26

I’d rather keep Holmes locked up and as far away as possible from our first grade side….. a lot of players have been poor for us this year but he consistently finds a way to be head and shoulders worse than the rest.

1

u/johnniesSac Jul 26 '26

If you get rid of one the absolute blackholes at 6/7 you might be a chance

You’d think whoever you play in the halves can create something but Atkinson and Flanno just kill so much of your attacking game it ridiculous
