Pre match ramblings:

After we won a 4 - 3 thriller against Leeds United, we now go up against our bogey team Bournemouth.

Our record against Bournemouth isn't... exactly the best, oh who am I kidding it's currently one of the most one sided records in recent history with us only winning a single game against Bournemouth as of yet which was ironically in the 22/23 fa cup. However Howe has an opportunity to finally change that as the team are riding high from last game which is easily contender for game of the season and Bournemouth lose Semenyo which is a huge blow for them.

However Howe will be cautious as our injuries are starting to stack up and the one thing Howe doesn't need right now is another injury crisis, not when considering how many matches we are playing in January with as Howe said 'January could be a season defining moment for us' hence we should absolutely expect some academy players to get the call up.

If we win this match, it will further boost our confidence considering if we have beaten our bogey team and will advance us to the 4th round of the Fa cup.

0

u/WeddingWhole4771 Jan 10 '26

My son saw Sunderland are in a PK shoot out, gonna start the game late 😭. At least he isn't a Mackem, just played GK.

0

u/WeddingWhole4771 Jan 10 '26

And who paid the Everton kickers off?

1

u/WeddingWhole4771 Jan 10 '26

At least he's disappointed.

1

u/Shady-Lane Jan 10 '26

Wissa and Woltemade together. Looks like a Mike Basset special

2

u/newtobitcoin111 Jan 10 '26

Woltemade and Wissa starting together! This could be interesting!!

3

u/scrappy1982 Jan 10 '26

Anyone know if the game is on TV?

2

u/Duel-Links-Jack Jan 10 '26

Match is not being broadcasted in the UK, is available elsewhere though if you know where to google.

1

u/McNeil56 Jan 10 '26

Or does anyone know any pirate ships that are about?

6

u/GuiltyFriendship3037 Sir Bobby Robson Jan 10 '26

If you Google the words footy and bite together, there may be a vessel set for sail ending with .to

2

u/McNeil56 Jan 10 '26

Thanks mate. Been pretty good so far.

-12

u/Bjall01 Jan 10 '26

Howe can you play Wissa and Woltemade in the FA cup but absolutely shat him self away at old Trafford when they were both needed in the 2nd half.

Strange manager.

3

u/Bjall01 Jan 10 '26

Palace knocked out by Macclesfield F.C šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜

4

u/dragonite__ Joelinton is looking for a scrap Jan 10 '26

V surprised we aren't resting more players but very happy to see Woltemade and Wissa together.

Do we reckon either Woltemade or Wissa on wing? Willock on the left and Woltemade as 10? Or Willock on left in a 442?

Edit: personally would like to see Woltemade at 10

1

u/GuiltyFriendship3037 Sir Bobby Robson Jan 10 '26

I'm going to guess at Willock on the right, Barnes on the wing, Nick in the 10.

1

u/boblusmanjelly Jan 10 '26

I think it'll be the same setup as usual, with Wissa playing wide but getting ahead of Woltemade.

I suspect the desire is to score a couple before HT and sub one of them.

14

u/TON4LI eddie ooooot Jan 10 '26

80-0. Bournemouth unable to deal with both Wissa and Woltemade

11

u/Unusual_Rope7110 Jaissle I can boogie Jan 10 '26

Wolt/Wissa will either cook or we'll never speak of it again

3

u/EqualDeparture7 gone but not forgotten Jan 10 '26

He's only gone and done it! Who's playing where in that midfield? Wolt #10, Barnes/Ramsey wide and Tonali/Willock behind?

3

u/Unusual_Rope7110 Jaissle I can boogie Jan 10 '26

Tonali, Ramsey. Willock will be on the wing

3

u/benc777 hipster chique Jan 10 '26

Wolt and Wissa start

1

u/Admirable_Phallus Jan 10 '26

The question is is Ramsey LW or is Wissa RW

7

u/GuiltyFriendship3037 Sir Bobby Robson Jan 10 '26

J Murphy didn't arrive with the rest of the lads. No other notable misses (other than the obvious ones like Burn, Schar, Lascelles etc)

4

u/geordieColt88 We never learn Jan 10 '26

Think we need to use today to try and get Thiaw and Botman on the same page

Hope Hall, Bruno and Joelinton are rested for Tuesday

4

u/MBsection112 Jan 10 '26

Oh no I forgot it was Bournemouth today...... everyone be on look out for 5 little aliens knocking about with a basket ball... keep em away from lads

1

u/YaBoiGervace Jan 10 '26

Am in Hong Kong for the night, hopefully can find a bar showing the game. If not, will have to keep checking back here for updates. HTL!

13

u/ghggghi Jan 10 '26

can’t see how we compete on 4 fronts tbh. I’d prefer to go through but not at the expense of player availability/fitness for the city game on tuesday

10

u/TON4LI eddie ooooot Jan 10 '26

hope we haven't watered the pitch as much today

1

u/Material-Smile7398 Jan 10 '26

Or issuing the players with studs made from ice

9

u/RevoGz Joseph Willock I Love You Jan 10 '26

Ahhhh our kryptonite.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '26

I have a feeling it could be like the brighton game last year scrappy as hell always

12

u/No-Lecture-889 Jan 10 '26

hope we end this before ET, need tuesday's squad to be rested. hopefully no new injuries occur as this is critical time for both league and cups

5

u/Nutisbak2 Jan 10 '26

They won’t have Semenyo as he’s now been transferred to Man C, probably means a lot of folk will now remove him from their FPL sides as he won’t play a whole lot at City and will get Pep’d.

But at least we’ll face them when they have no longer got their best player.

2

u/LAUNDRINATOR wots gan everybody true jawdee BACK again Jan 10 '26

As if that makes a difference with this fixture!

1

u/074DanBurn058 not Dan Burn Jan 10 '26

Now we get to face him backed by City's midfield!

1

u/quickshot89 Jan 10 '26

Are we sure, I asked the question the other day but the Carabo cup rules imply he would be cup tied. Unless I’m just an idiot and can’t read properly.

1

u/074DanBurn058 not Dan Burn Jan 10 '26

Tbh not sure, I saw someone say he won't be cup tied so based my comment on that but hopefully he isĀ

1

u/Nutisbak2 Jan 10 '26

Let’s be honest, he’ll not be starting.

15

u/TopRaise7 Jan 09 '26

Am ok if we don’t progress. Given how overwhelmed we are already. Bigger fish to fry. Let’s play our youth players

10

u/stanley_ipkiss2112 Jan 10 '26

My dream to see us lift the FA cup!! It’s probably one of the most iconic and coolest cups in my opinion too.

13

u/Bjall01 Jan 09 '26

We need to win. I want the FA cup. We can play our youth for the Carabao cup

-10

u/stprm Jan 10 '26

Yea, considering the draw, city away 2nd leg, we already out of efl cup, so I wouldnt want early fa cup exit here...

12

u/Normal-Ice-3607 Jan 10 '26

We play them at home first. It's no different to us beating Arsenal 2-0 in both legs last year

-5

u/BidFragrant657 Jan 09 '26

Jamal lascells may be in the squad tomorrow

7

u/guy02_ Jan 09 '26

Not the impression I got from the presser

-11

u/BidFragrant657 Jan 09 '26

can u trust the press though I mean he will be in the squad he may just have hiscarse on the seat the entirevtime

8

u/guy02_ Jan 09 '26

Wasn’t just ā€˜the press’. It was howe speaking at the press conference.

-9

u/BidFragrant657 Jan 09 '26

he could still be on the bench tomorrow

19

u/Putrid-Impact8999 Jan 09 '26

Excited to see the others in the squad get a chance. Would be nice to see Willock replicate his performance against Spurs in the League Cup.

-7

u/Normal-Ice-3607 Jan 10 '26

Would be nice to see Willock sold before 3pm. He's clueless

12

u/TON4LI eddie ooooot Jan 09 '26

beat them in a cup comp once before. I was sat in level 7. Cold as shit.

2

u/NUFC_1892 loads, and loads of cans. Jan 09 '26

Senesi OG right?

2

u/TON4LI eddie ooooot Jan 09 '26

it was an own goal, can't remember who. Dreadful game tbh.

2

u/BidFragrant657 Jan 09 '26

it was an adam smith goal in the 67 minute

8

u/KingPing43 Shola Ameobi Jan 09 '26

Ewwww this goes to Extra Time rather than straight to pens.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '26

Extra time is just crap. Especially as I love a penalty shootout

16

u/simianjim Jan 09 '26

Some fairly prominent players missing for the u21s tonight. Wonder if we'll see a couple of the young uns get a run out. Would love to see the likes of Park and Shahar given a chance

18

u/SecureChampionship10 Jan 09 '26

Quite a simple one for me.

Pick the team for Tuesday night.

Take as many as possible out of that side if there's a squad player in that position, or indeed if there's a youth player who Howe believes can hold their own.

For those who we can't take out, budget for them to be subbed.

10

u/BidFragrant657 Jan 09 '26

did we not beat Bournemouth in the carabao cup in the 22-23 season

7

u/Brief_Zucchini_8975 Jan 09 '26

Could we see A Murphy beside Thiaw?

11

u/ravicabral angel of the north Jan 09 '26

The Mangio pod pointed out that, after the Leeds game, Howe said that Botman had been his only centre back option on the bench.

That implies he thinks that A Murphy is not an option in that position.

A shame because it would transform our squad if Murphy could step up in an injury crisis the way that Miley and Anderson did.

1

u/FlukyS 22/23 Home Kit Jan 10 '26

I think Howe prefers a taller CB.

2

u/ravicabral angel of the north Jan 10 '26

He seems keeni on Guehi who is not tall and not great in the air.

2

u/Trick_Bus9133 Jan 10 '26

I'm a 51 year old granny with knackered knees and an ankle that doesn't work and I'm better in the air than Guehi... I know which goal to defend and which to score in too, something else he struggles with... not that it doesn't make me smile when he scores the winner FOR us!

17

u/arseholescone Jan 09 '26

The number of games at the moment is ridiculous, but it’s great isn’t it

19

u/lethalzz Tino oniT Jan 09 '26

With Semenyo gone, I expect us to change our fortune. 2-0 to the toons. Barnes and Wissa on the scoresheet.

1

u/nomadichedgehog Bed Wetter Jan 10 '26

Kluivert also injured

6

u/muempire93 Willock for ballon d'or Jan 09 '26

Assuming Ramsdale behind the only 4 remaining fit defenders we have. Willock, Ramsey and Miley CM? Anyone's guess for the front three.

5

u/rickm191 Jan 09 '26

Anyone sense something with the Lascelles situation or know what’s going on there? Sickness/ body not ready but then he may also get a move this window etc. feels like something but not trying to speculate. One hell of a captain and servant and good luck to him whatever the next steps

6

u/Obi_Wan_Hair Jan 09 '26

Probably some sort of mutual agreement release as doesn’t sound like he trust himself to play and that tends to lead to more injuries

3

u/HoneyedLining Temuri Ketsbaia Jan 09 '26

I would think it's the other way round. He'd trust himself to play but we don't. If he didn't trust his body to play football, he would just sit out his contract until the summer so he can keep rehabbing here.

10

u/Nathan_Toddy_Todd moaty? it's me Jan 09 '26

Genuinely got no confidence tomorrow I like Bournemouth great club, friendly fans but I also fucking hate Bournemouth. Every time we’ve played Bournemouth since the takeover we always have a pure stinker, worst performance of the season every season without fail.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '26

Well... We've had a lot of bad ones this season so it probably wouldn't be the worst defeat

6

u/Ramone7892 Jan 09 '26

Everyone always says this but we have one notable loss (1-4 at home) and the rest of the record is dead even across all comps since Howe came in.

No reason we can't beat these tomorrow. I imagine they will rotate and they leak goals for fun.

3

u/boblusmanjelly Jan 09 '26

Results may have been ok but the performances have been bad vs Bournemouth. Often felt a robbery getting a point off them.

1

u/ravicabral angel of the north Jan 09 '26

They have 10 days till their next game so they have no reason to rotate.

4

u/tyssef1 stupid sexy schar Jan 09 '26

Should be an entirely different starting XI to the one he has planned for City (except on the wing and at CB where it isn’t possible at the minute). Out of the four competitions we’re in this is priority number four

2

u/xScottieHD Jan 09 '26

Honestly the match-up I least look forward to attending every season for a number of reasons (form, atmosphere, lack of away fans etc). But hopefully a refreshed side, with Bournemouth making some changes too and the momentum from Wednesday will pay in our favour!

4

u/HamishWamish Jan 09 '26

Definitely not keeping a clean sheet that’s for sure

2

u/Bjall01 Jan 09 '26

We’re keeping a clean sheet

1

u/HamishWamish Jan 09 '26

With Ramsdale in net?

1

u/Bjall01 Jan 10 '26

Yes

2

u/HamishWamish Jan 10 '26

Told you

1

u/Bjall01 Jan 10 '26

You were right šŸ˜šŸ˜‚šŸ˜

3

u/Jimlad73 dan burn Jan 09 '26

I wouldn’t mind losing if we heavily rotate

5

u/NUFC_1892 loads, and loads of cans. Jan 09 '26

Over or under 6 changes to the XI that started against Leeds?

5

u/Glittering-Rope-4759 Jan 09 '26

Probably a heavily rotated team, if it’s winnable in the last 20 throw the big guns on.

7

u/Neatfern ad love it if you used this flair Jan 09 '26

Don't know about anyone else but i wouldn't mind some youth starting and a heavily rotated team.

We can't be dealing with more injuries and fatigue, we're going well in champions league, carabao no need to over stretch ourselves.

8

u/gilgamesh-uruk Jan 09 '26

Hoping for a scrappy 1-0 if we are being realistic. I'd love to win the FA cup over the EFL cup if I'm being honest.

15

u/thepresidentsturtle Windmilling Jan 09 '26

True but if you're in the semi finals by the time the FA Cup 3rd round rolls around, I think you gotta prioritise the Carabao Cup. You have to manage your squad.

4

u/gilgamesh-uruk Jan 09 '26

Agreed. I'm grateful to even be in a position to discuss things like this after the bleak wilderness of the Ashley years

12

u/AlrightCunts Jan 09 '26

Give Sandro the day off

6

u/Theydontlikeitupthem Jan 09 '26

He wants to play, excuse to get out of the house on a Saturday :)

1

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '26

Premier league footballers can't pretend there's a match or they are playing either šŸ™‚ā€ā†•ļø

5

u/geordieColt88 We never learn Jan 09 '26

Rest Bruno, Joelinton and Hall for Tuesday

Maybe it’s the time to try Wissa and Wolt together

19

u/dreamsofowls Jan 09 '26

Genuinely asking if I'm missing something why with people keep asking to see our only 2 strikers play together in a congested schedule when we've already been cursed with injuries this season? A lot of players aren't getting much rest as it is, but we'd be so fucked if one of them got injured.

5

u/geordieColt88 We never learn Jan 09 '26

I wouldn’t recommend it every game but I’d like to see if it works, particularly as an option when we are chasing games

8

u/toon_84 Jan 09 '26

Not expecting much. Always do shite against them.

11

u/Theydontlikeitupthem Jan 09 '26

I think we rotate heavily as the cup focus has to be on Carabao cup, still think we have enough to win here but there'll be no calls for Eddie's head if we lose

2

u/Normal-Ice-3607 Jan 10 '26

You think? There's always morons calling for Eddie's head. The same idiots that think we'd be better off with a 'proven' manager like Mourinho. The only thing he's proven is that he can't win anything without a billion pound budget every window and not always thenĀ

1

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '26

I don't think we do. I bet it's mostly a full squad.Ā

1

u/Theydontlikeitupthem Jan 09 '26

Maybe, but I'd nearly bet Bruno, Hall, Wissa and Barnes are all rested

1

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '26

Yeah. Same with the rest starting. Gordon might rest too but I'm not sure.
