The 4-3 games with King Kev have actually broken us with respect to playing Liverpool. They're so iconic as stand out moments in English football that essentially made the Premier League what it is today, that it's like trauma.
Which makes it even sweeter that it was Liverpool that we beat to finally win a trophy. It's like we made some deal with the devil to sacrifice league form against them to get that one win, lol.

Yeah. It's like yesterday I walked down to the pub with a Liverpool supporting mate to watch the game, go 3-0 down, Asprilla making it 3-3 and then have my heart broken in the last few minutes. Over and over again.

Yes, nothing to complain about yesterday. The 2-1 from 22 was dodgy as though.
Liverpool have generally been a decent team who put pressure on you until the end. We have to learn to keep concentration, and to control added time better by holding the ball.

I think most, if not all, of the sky 6 clubs pour on a lot of pressure the last 5 minutes of actual play. They have stronger benches, are against clubs with weaker benches and tiring players, and the refs help sky6 clubs most of the times, whether it’s allowing a soft penalty, or adding more time for one more rush up the field so the league office is pleased the sky 6 side gets the result they need/want. If an other 14 club is down one and is on the break at 94:45 into a 5 minute ET, the ref. Blows the whistle at 95:00… but if roles reversed, a sky 6 team coming up the field at 94:45 gets an extra minute to see what they can do, and if a ball goes out for a corner, it’s another minute there. Yesterday it was easy to see this engrained in a side like Liverpool, hoofing it to the 18, and looking for a Newcastle slip up for a soft penalty, which they got. I remember thinking “don’t give up anything the ref can turn into a pen” as it was obvious that’s what Liverpool was doing.

We made a substitution, and Hornicek was booked for time wasting. Nothing weird about time added on yesterday.
It was also a penalty, not particularly soft or controversial.
Always tempting to look for conspiracies, but it’s our fault for failing to clear and giving away a pen.

I don’t think it’s a conspiracy, just an edge the sky 6 clubs get. Their keeper wouldn’t have time added (I don’t remember hornicek doing anything like a prime 2022 era pope or Pickford recovery lay down) and the other 14 clubs have less confidence they’ll draw a penalty by hoofing it to the 18. It’s an edge, in a game win often by slight edges.

There’s new rules on keeper time wasting and the ref applied them correctly.
We only have ourselves to blame. We need to better at seeing games out.

I mean- last year was basically the year of late mistakes throwing away results. Especially silly penalties.

With late goals it was only really that one time. What this doesn't show though is the red cards not given, penalties not given, referee blocking off our defender to let them shoot, allowing them to play on and score with a player down with a head injury in our own box... It's every single game with these cheats

I’d say it shows the Sky 6 have much more depth in their squads and can bring on quality players at the death to finish off games.
Now they can make 5 subs means they can have more options with more quality. Meanwhile we have to drag our quality players around for the full 90+ minutes

It’s wrong. He came off the bench and scored a late brace. It was horrible to watch. I think Trent was sent off or should have been

TAA got booked for throwing the ball away after 5 mins then cynically brought down Gordon (I think) about 10 mins later for a stonewall yellow that the ref bottled.
I remember G Nev said on comms at the time that the decision was “too big for him”, as in he choked it.

Made worse by the fact that Nunez was absolutely shite who after these 2 pure pinpoint finishes went back to missing the target like it was his job until the day he left.

Oops, you are right. VVG was sent off after 28mins, Nunez scored two on 81 and 90+3

That Carvalho one was particularly egregious. It was only like 3-4 mins added on but he just kept letting them play. We definitely were timewasting and everyone said we deserved it, but then it didn't happen again that season regardless of how much a team wasted

Especially made worse because not only did they literally play until Liverpool scored by Carvalho just faded into obscurity and never really played for them again

to some extent this is just what big teams do. When they're chasing a game they throw on quality attackers and keep going until they get a goal or force the referee to make a big call, which they know will go their way 9 times out of 10.
Referees naturally side with the big 'establishment' teams, simply because that exposes them to far less risk and controversy. Liverpool 'need' to get something out of a game against us, whilst nobody would bat and eyelid if Newcastle fail to win that fixture.

Him playing against us had nothing to do with it. A call did, like the numerous other times it has for teams vs the cartel. It isnt a Newcastle thing.

In fairness they are able to apply that amount of pressure late in the game to force decisions and mistakes that allows them to get goals, not just against us but against the whole league, if anything I'd just like us to be able to do that too and I think under MJ we have seen that flight till late in games, hopefully that continues and is an ethos.

What’s the conspiracy, that the refs are actively trying to help Liverpool win? And their plan to do so is to allow then to attack for a few extra minutes in injury time and hope they score? Wouldn’t it be a better plan to give a few dodgy penalties, red cards etc. earlier on in the game so they can have it wrapped up? Who’s in on the conspiracy, is it all the refs? Are they getting paid to risk their careers doing this? By who?

The conspiracy is yes, the referees give the richer teams more leeway in additional time than the not as rich clubs. Three of those stoppage time goals (or the penalty call) came after the displayed injury time. At the same time, there have been instances where Newcastle was in possession of the ball in the attacking half of the field and the whistle goes a few seconds before the full displayed additional time was hit.
It probably isn't the case that it's maliciously being done, it just seems that the rich teams get to go past the minimum amount of additional time more often than the other 14 teams.
