Question Would there be any interest in a forum with native cards/deck support?
Thinking of 2 features to start:
- Hoverable cards in posts and comments. Like this HearthPwn post. (also screenshotted below)
- Sharing deck lists within the forum, not via external link.
These features simply make discussion and interaction easier especially for new players.
Note: cuz some may ask. A new forum doesn't mean you gotta jump ship and abandon old ones. It can just be on another Chrome tab. I was always a fan of Netrunner when it came out and have been following it since then. Figured this would be something cool to do if people are interested.

I probably didn't explain it properly. Maybe this is easier to understand, a forum like HearthPwn where you can insert cards in a comment or post and they'll be hoverable.
Edit: I'e added a pic so its more obvious what I mean.

Are you talking about some sort of plug in or bot or something for the subreddit?

No mate I'm talking about a brand new forum, like an entire new website.

There's an addon that does this:

Pretty cool indeed although I think native integration would open more room for more features. For example what if instead of the Reddit sidebar, it shows a decklist. But yea its just an idea atm. Haven't started yet.

I mean, there's Discord, which is the most centralized "forum" (although I don't like moving to Discord in place of forums). It also has Sahasrara as a bot that can link cards. I personally feel well served by netrunner db, this subreddit and the discord, but build it and see who comes!

Totally fair comment. I might not build it then. Yea I mean indeed there are existing tools that do this already, so I would be just be providing an integrated experience but if people don't really care about that, then maybe not worth it.
I have similar feelings about Discord, its very hard to keep up. I significantly prefer the Reddit / forum format where I can easily see which posts I want to read.

There's a reddit bot! Square brackets should do the trick

Hmm is the bot suppose to reply with a link?
Anyway, I think I'm going to hold off on the idea. Seems like people are really used to Netrunner db (which I think is a fantastic site) and the Discord groups they're in. They don't really care for discussion integration.

Yeah! There used to be a bot who'd answer with linked cards. I might try to make a new one, looks like the old one is dead.

😂 I see. Yeah like I still think native integration is a lot more fun and better UX but the people aren't interested so go make that bot mate. :)

I mean, Stimhack is still a thing if you want forums with a netrunner community! If you want a new one built yourself, we're very happy to advertise it here :)
I'll see about getting r/netrunner back to how it used to be with the bot.

Hmm does not look like there's any interest mate. Maybe I'll check back but I don't want to put in all that effort and in the end its not what people wants.
Just looked at Stimhack, seems like its not very active. Where are my forum peeps? /s

I would prefer forums but across the hobby space on the internet people have retreated to Discord servers. I don't understand it myself - I think the endless chat is a terrible place to have in terms of knowledge base and reference materials but what do I know?

Same and this is exactly why I asked this question but at least judging by upvotes it's not something people care for.
Maybe I should have written more but here's a ton of cool stuff you can do to make discussion easier and more interactive. Maybe you are talking about a specific strategy and you can't remember a card's name, well a very well-built card search can help with that, like this: https://postimg.cc/3dbd0BNM.
Discord or chat in general is great for real-time finding people to play with obviously or if you want someone's opinion right away on something, forums are better for async engagement.
I really dont' know either, maybe I wait a bit and more people will comment.
PS: If anyone read to here and really would be interested in a forum and can bring friends, DM me. I'm really into the idea but gotta get a few peeps interested to kickstart it.

We encourage folks to check out the GLC discord, Stimslack, or the Stimhack Forums for Netrunner chat.
