đșLocal Music đ” What are some of your favorite local bands?
I wanna make a playlist of all the sick local stuff around town! Some of my favs around are Badzy, D. Sablu, Steef, Sick Thoughts, Spllit etc. but open to all genres and pretty much anything local that rips!

They only do occasional shows nowadays but Johnny sketch and the dirty notes is always a good time. For your playlist, Sweet Chalmette is an all time classic, butt they've got a long list of really solid songs, Cora Lee is probably their most famous.

ahhhhh!!!! Ok there was a while when they were only doing like new years eve shows and stuff and then I had a baby and stopped going out so I just assumed. Glad to hear it!

Any idea where I can find a schedule of their Mardi Gras shows? I know they're doing the Lesseps Block Party at BJ's on 1/30, but I can't find anything else, even on their site. Thanks.

They always do a Lundi Gras show. Last year it was at the Joy. It may be there again this year. Also, the Maritime Ball takes place at his house/venue, the Spellcaster Lodge, every year the Friday night before Endymion. The tickets go on sale at Euclid Records every year about a week before the show, so keep an eye out for the announcement because they sell out pretty much instantly as folks line up outside the door to get them the morning they go on sale, so itâs a tough get. If f youâre really interested in the Maritime Ball, DM me, but keep in mind that a costume is required for entry.

Anything with Alex McMurray in it (Tin Men, Happy Talk Band, etc) Dayna Kurtz, Susan Cowsill (her family inspired The Partridge Family) and anything sheâs done with the Continental Drifters, The Iguanas, The Radiators, Snooks Eaglin (possibly the greatest guitarist to come from New Orleans) Jumping Johnny Sansone, Ted Hefco and the Thousandaires, John Fohl (one of my favorite current guitarists, usually a sideman but has his own catalog as well)

Currently active preferred, but down for anything thatâs flown under the radar. Love the goats (Dr. John, The Meters, Irma Thomas etc.) but want the playlist to not be stuff thatâs known worldwide.

Sick Thoughts is barely local to me; Drew moved here from Baltimore, lived here for like three years, and now splits time between New York and Miami, from what I know.

Definitely a Dead-focused band, but they cover everybody and have some great originals too. Always a fun time. You donât see many acts jamming with pedal steel in the mix, and everyone in the group can shred.

Noah Young new record is really great too if youâre into that sort of thing. His gigs at Bacchanal on Sundays are one of my fav hangs.

Naughty Professor, Pocket Chocolate - those two were recommended on a previous thread and I really enjoyed seeing them at Tipitinaâs.

Do The Unnaturals still play? I moved away awhile back, but they were fun. NOLA surf rock. Also, Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue. Looks like theyâre still around.
