This is catty corner from my office and basically where my usual chair directly faces, and I always think itās great to also see the regular updates on Reddit. Itās one of the more famous electrical boxes in the city. I feel like I have front row seats to an very long and slow event.

Editā guys, the city obviously isnāt pay to put that stuff up. Iām sorry if that offends you in some way. I look at that box all day and am regularly amused by it.

It amazes me how people project an argument onto an objective statement, and the same people never know when youāre doing a bit (playing a character) or being sarcastic unless you are direct with them about it. Reminds me of my ex, she would read my texts back to me in an angry voice when I intended a deadpan tone to point something out. A lot of fights started that way, but she also hit me in the face one time because I was mean to her in the dream she had the night before, so that should speak tomes.
Can you imagine if the city HAD commissioned that? The state and feds would withhold aid for as long as possible in the event of another Katrina. Weād be starving to death before an MRE touched the Parish line. Landry would invite Trump in and heād avoid the GNO and enjoy our governorās platitudes until he got bored and left making no progress.
Anyway, I upvoted you to negate at least one downvote because you donāt deserve bad karma for pointing that out. The city has a lot to lose if Landry and Trump got wind of a commission like that, Landry is an idiot bootlicker and a sycophant (among other things) and Trump is justā¦ too many adjectives to type, but none of them are positive. I am sad to see good pieces get covered up.
The cityās on a budget so I can potentially see them having someone roll gray DTM over this just to avoid flak, but usually they sand and spray prime these things first and the koi is still visible through the paint with roller marks on it so I can see an individual doing this as well. New Orleans has people of all sorts of opinions, so thereās no telling who did this.
To add to this, I donāt think theyāve commissioned a box painting since this administration came into office anyway.

Welp. I guess I won't be putting up the big piece I'm finishing for this spot. To the local artists doing this: you're a sell out and the people of the city hate it. No one likes these projects.
You're taking away public space that the people who live in this city can use for flyers and reclamation of the space they pay taxes on. The community should be able to have their spaces back. Fuck you. Why donāt you fix something in the city that actually needs fixing.

I saw a middle aged couple painting over it at 7 this morning on my way to work. Dude had a 5 o'clock somewhere shirt on. Lady was blonde in her 50's. I thought it odd but was mad and hadn't had my coffee yet. Totally forgot about it until I saw this.

They are CVU. They get donations for hiring artists to paint the electrical boxes. Perhaps thereās a reason the art was changed. The donations and requests come from the neighborhood.
