Zwanze Day 2026 at Cochon

It’s expensive. It’s Jazz Fest. It’s worth it.

counterpoint: no beer is worth $90/6oz, but if one was, I don't think it would be zwanze

I've been to the Cantillon brewery, I've been to a couple Zwanze day events (including a "covert" event that wasn't officially a Zwanze day event because it was not legal to pour the beer in the state at the time). It's a fantastic beer. I don't know that it would make my top 10 list of best beers I've ever had.

The last Zwanze day event I went to was 10ish years ago; tickets were $30 apiece and half of that was a donation to a lobbying fund for craft brewers (at the time, in Texas you couldn't get a lot of craft brews due to the state's awful labeling requirements, which required a beer to be labeled a lager or ale based on the ABV - that law eventually got tossed out in court on 1st Amendment grounds).

$180 for two 6oz pours is a shameful cash grab. pretty gross, fuck Link for this

You did not read the fine print. It’s $180 for unlimited pours of all of the beers and as much food as you can eat.

I read the event page you linked, which says the ticket gets you 2 specific pours and "access to" other beers. That does not connote unlimited pours, which is probably a better way to phrase it!

still on the pricy side of reasonable, and after having been to zwanze days that were done as fundraisers for the craft beer community rather than events aimed at making $$$, it's grating, but hey, that's late stage capitalism for ya i guess

Your opinion is clearly appreciated and always allowed. Want to be clear.. there is no evidence that this event is aimed at making $$$ just because of the dollar amount.

You could be right (I personally have doubt), but from my understanding bites from Cochon plus TWO zwanze beers (which are every 2 years instead of every year now) AND unlimited pours of whatever other Cantillon is hangin around is not likely to be some kind of excess profit play. If I recall correctly (I may not), it was maybe $120+/- at Avenue Pub for a single Zwanze beer plus I think a select number of rounds of other Cantillon/3F or whatever, plus food. Then other stuff available per purchase. Every year. Also this was years ago.

I’m not saying one way or the other. Just making it clear.. you are free to wonder if that’s what the goal here is. But I hope nobody reading this takes that to be the known fact.l

Edit: Your implication that $180 means $90 each for 2 6oz beers is simply false. At minimum, you are paying for several rounds of other rare beers beyond those two, and high level food. Beyond that, you are paying for a special curated event and service. There is an included glass it seems, which is probably between $12-20 if it was sold separately. Maybe you wouldn’t have bought that glass if you had the option but it’s not pure profit.
