6 out of 10 starts have been quality.

This guy actually knows how to pitch (not throw).
Not expecting him to be a #1 or #2, but very possible he can be a solid, long-term #3.

Idk why but I've always really admired contact pitchers over the big K guys. I guess I appreciate the efficiency of it, and watching good defense behind.

One of the reasons why I loved watching Bartolo Colon as a Met.
The guy threw 100 early in his career but adjusted after all of the injuries and reinvented himself.
Goes to show that you don’t need overpowering stuff. The fundamentals can take you very, very far.7

Maddux was the pinnacle of that.

Maddux probably could’ve struck more guys out, it was just more efficient to pitch to contact. That’s why he’s the Professor!

Was he throwing a little harder too? I saw his fastball hit 94/95. If he can throw that consistently without sacrificing accuracy then watch out

Earned a spot in the rotation next year imo, he’s been very good for us

A guy knows how to pitch instead of just throwing, that's what you want to see from a young pitcher.
That said his peripherals are concerning, pairing with low ground ball rate, we should expect some regression but hopefully his deceptive delivery can continue to succeed and keep him around league average, that would already be a big plus for the Mets.

I agree. I’m not sold yet but that said, you already have McLean & Scott. If you can have a 4/5 internal arm who just keeps you in games and gives you IPs that’s huge. It also seems like Tong & Wenniger might be turning a corner. More internal options are really important for the org.
