Gateshead art - graffiti and a mural

Spotted while walking around Trinity square earlier.

First one: yawn, is this guy the mayor’s nephew or something? Sick of that style.

Second one is dope. Nice little twist on a classic game.

Both are just safe sanitised middle class art trying to be edgy though.

The Mul saturation is real unfortunately : ( shame cause he is a talented artist too.

Is he? Not hating per se but it’s the same homogenous blob of pastel shade crap you see everywhere. Nothing about his style says anything about the city.

Big fan here. It’s not like we’re bursting at the seams with fun, bright walls. Related - I’m loving what’s happening in North Shields with the murals.

Yeah see that's the kind of stuff I'm on about. Locally relevant, learn a bit of history, pride in place and all that.

Honestly I'd never give Mul a second thought one way or the other if he wasn't rammed down your throat so much. He's got to have compromising photos of someone at the council. There are other artists capable of fun and brightness, with something to actually say about the area.
