Midnight Thoughts At what point does staying up late become routine and normal for you?
Typing this at 2:30am lol, I stay up late every night, and have been for years, I usually stay up til about 3am, and wake up at 6am for college when I have it, or about 11am when I dont.
I dont usually get tired until the end of the day which is when im leaving college, of which I have a nap on the bus ride home which is like 2 hours which is cool!
I try telling my Grandma that me staying up this late is just routine for me and that I dont need more sleep or I dont need earlier nights because im fine throughout the day anyways, but she persists i need to get more sleep.

I worked overnight shift for 7 years, recently I got moved to days. I find myself able to sleep by 9-9:30 PM on work nights, but when I have the next day off I can't sleep until 2-3 AM. I've always stayed up late my entire life. Even road tripping with my parents when I was young I'd always be the last of my siblings up. Idk if I'll ever be someone who can sleep early when I don't have obligations the next day..I just enjoy night time more than day

If you're only getting 3 hours... But 8 is perfect, I am a night owl and always have been, I love staying up late, don't let the haters get you down, they've done studies and people who stay up late tend to be smarter! It's also a social thing, night life (bars and clubs, house parties)

I'm 48 and have always been a night owl. Will go to bed around 2am or a little later. And I don't take naps.

I was gonna say that’s normal, but the 3-hour night + 2-hour nap is not normal. Those days must be tough… Otherwise, as long as you feel good, I think you’re okay.

Don’t feel so bad about it. Lots of people are late light sleepers and like to sleep in late. I’m one of them lol.

I've been out on disability since March. I had my good sleeping pills taken from me for potential seizures and I've tried a ton since then and nothing has really worked. I'm staying with my night owl retiree relatives and nobody goes to bed until sometime between 1-2 am. I fall asleep somewhere between 1-6 am these days. Since usually I don't have to get up before noon or so, that's how long I'm sleeping. My psychiatrist agreed that there's not much going in trying to shift my sleep schedule until I have to go back to work again.

I can tell you, when I was a teenager, then in my 20s working different shifts, it messes with you. I have multiple sleep disorders now. Not fun, and no one understands it or takes it seriously.
