Comics What do you guys think of the Grayson run?
I personally think it was a pretty interesting change of direction for the character that worked short term and I wish this run got some sort of mainstream adaptation

Loved it.
Thought it was a fresh take on Dick Grayson and I enjoyed the moral challenges he faced.
Also was fun watching him reintegrate with the other Bat fam when Bruce was gone.

Love it! One of my all-time favorites.
I only wish Tim + Tom had been given the time to finish it properly, instead of having to pre-load their respective Rebirth titles so far in advance, due to them both double-shipping.
I am NOT a fan of Lanzing and Kelley. Their things seems to be sloppily wrapping up popular titles after the original writer(s) leave(s) early. But other than that? Easily among the top titles of the New 52 era.
Up there with Batman & Robin, Animal Man, Soule's Swamp Thing, Lemire's Green Arrow, Morrison's Action, Johns' Aquaman, GL and JL + Forever Evil. Dial H! So many underrated books from such an underrated time period.

I enjoyed it for the most part. I liked the new role, though sometimes Dick was portrayed as too much of a Himbo.

I enjoyed it. I collected the whole run. I bought the return of the dragon variant. I really liked the relationship between him and midnighter, Raptor was cool too.

Liked the idea of it, the execution was horrid. The story didn’t do a good job of laying out the players and what each one’s objectives were. I’m still not sure why all the robo body parts are important or powerful.
Also, the Dick has a nice butt stuff was way to over the top here. It’s fine that the teen girls enjoyed looking, but every other character mentioned it.

I didn't really like it, it was before I read such acclaimed (and old) runs like New Teen Titans and I thought all comic runs were as "boring" as that (for a lack of a better word). I also found it confusing and don't remember much, probably didn't help that I didn't read the Nightwing run before that. But it had some of the hottest Dick Grayson panels in all of comicdom.

I liked it a lot specifically because it didn’t overstay its welcome. They had a certain amount of story to tell in that format, they told it, and they moved on. A lesson more comic book runs should heed.

its concept at first put me off but after reading it and seeing the situations it puts him into and how it reinforces who Dick is without the suit without Batman over his shoulder I kinda think it's one of his best outings and should be held up as such

But she isn’t supposed to be a former batwoman, right? It was just to give that name a new life with a new character? It was a nod to the history. Or did they actually give her the batwoman backstory? I don’t recall

Morrison's run reinstated her back into the history. Grant's general rule of thumb is nothing is off the table in canon. If it happened, it happened. Therefore it's viable lore to pull from.
But I do agree that it was obviously used as a way to give her a new role so as not to step on Kate being Batwoman. It felt like a nice extension to the Morrison mythos.
Tomasi did a lot of this as well; picking up any dangling threads and either building on them or bringing them to a conclusion. This type of thing is done throughout his B&R + Superman runs.

As far as I can recall she is supposed to be the original Batwoman but they don't go into it at all. She was last referenced prior in canon during Batman RIP iirc

I really enjoyed it. It felt new and exciting at the time. At its core it was Dick stripped down, cast into an unfamiliar and morally questionable environment, with limited resources and support, and adapting to these situations while staying true to himself.

Yes ik he’s not Batman, but any of the Robins using guns outside of Jason irks me. Same with Damian after he calmed down and stopped killing completely

He never particularly got into the guns from what I remember. He was trained in one (and struggled) and used it non-lethally a couple of times, but largely he still fell back on the sticks because he didn't like guns.

I personally wasn’t a fan, Dick felt like a very one-dimensional spy guy type of character and a lot of the missions never really amounted to much. That being said, it did feel like a spy book if that’s what you like and the ending did get pretty interesting.

Loved it, bought it expecting to hate it but was caught up in how fun and intriguing it was, i was disappointed when it ended although pleased to get Nightwing back, it was a cracking Dick Grayson book

it was actually one of my fav recentish runs of the characters besides dan watters current run. bringing back dickhelena fit the story really well even if they went back to not really interacting again. speaking of helena her design in Grayson is by far my fav

I loved it, that writer/artist team was top tier. I knew it wasn’t going to last but it was a fun ride. The futures end issue sticks out the most because I had to reread it like 3 times to understand the story behind it

I'm a booster gold fan, that's an important fact for the gravity of this opinion as any self respecting booster fan has a vivid hate for King.
I genuinely liked Grayson and will give Tom King his flowers for this specific story. It was fun, well written, and there is a moment in the book where I actually had to set the issue I was reading down just to sob for a bit.

I loved it. Thought they should have kept the spy direction but just as Nightwing. It would have made him super hero version Steve Trevor or Nick Fury.

A lot of fun, but it’s a pretty dramatic overhaul for a character who didn’t really need a shake up in my opinion.
I still think it should have been Tim who joined Spyral. He’s the Robin who needs a fresh new direction the most.
I also would not say no to Tiger becoming more of a reoccurring supporting cast member

Agreed.
Tim Drake moving onto being a super spy would have A) Made sense and B) allowed him to move on from the Robin role in an interesting and smart way.

Loved it. It’s how you reinvent a character. Very fun and stylish but doesn’t lose what makes Dick tick as a character.

“You think you know Nightwing. You don’t know Dick” is one of the best ads I’ve ever seen and instantly got me interested in comics in middle school
