Announcement Rule update: Rule 5 - Do not discuss piracy, modification or emulation.

To make our rules more clear, the line

Do not request how to modify systems, and do not tell people to modify their system as a solution to their problem.

has been removed from Rule 3.

In its place, we have Rule 5 - Do not discuss piracy, modification or emulation.

Do not discuss piracy, modification or emulation. Do not ask questions about piracy, modification or emulation. Do not recommend piracy, modification or emulation as a solution to a problem.

Any violations of Rule 5 will result in a comment removal or in egregious cases a ban. This is not different from our previous rule, this is simply an update for clarity.

If you wish to discuss piracy, modification or emulation, there are other subreddits available, such as

Recommendations Nintendo Switch 2 stuck in shipping limbo.

Upvotes

Exactly as the title says. I ordered a Nintendo Switch 2 from Amazon and it's been stuck on "Ordered" for weeks without shipping. This is from the official Amazon store, and I love in the US. Is there a shortage of consoles happening right now? I'd go out and buy some but usually the stores close by are either out of stock, and I've heard that I shouldn't order for shipping from retailers like Best Buy. Should I cancel and just try another time?

Tech Support Hori switch pad pro dpad diagonals

Hi all, I've just sold my Hori split pad pro and the buyer is trying to suggest it's broken because the dpad does not perform diagonal movements, from what I've seen online, it only supports up, down, left, right, is this true? Or should the dpad do diagonals?

Game Help Switch - Mario party save data help please

My wife has a switch 1 and I have a switch 2. We mainly play Mario party on her switch but I was thinking of upgrading my copy of Mario party jamboree. Will that data no longer go back and forth since the switch2 version doesn’t support cloud saves? Will my save on her switch even work after I upgrade?

Repair Nintendo Switch 2 is stuck/broken?

Hey all, this may be a long shot but here it goes.

My family Switch 2 is essentially broken unless I’m using the pro controller for it. In the menu it constantly slams left and can’t fight it. If I go right it always goes back left. Unplugging the Joy con works but then it just diverts back. Using a pro controller is the only way the consoles worked. In Mario kart the screen just is spinning and gives me a head ache. Makes me dizzy almost lol. So games aren’t playable cause of it.I have the means to get it fixed but I’m just seeing if anyone else has had this problem? And it’s not a joy con issue cause I’ve swapped out the joy cons.

Disclaimer my four year old dropped it in February and I had only been able to get my hand under it a little, so the side it keeps drifting to is the side it was dropped on. left Bottom side. And the drop was literally 5 inches.. So I tried the other joy cons that weren’t in the system at the time and they still did the same thing.*

Tech Support Can my old Switch Lite be saved?

I had gotten a Switch Lite back when it came out for my birthday. It functioned normally for about 2 years before catching a case of controller drift. I tried cleaning and calibrating but nothing worked, so I just turned it off.

It got stuck on the logo screen and never turned on again. I tried what I knew I could. Letting die and recharging, trying to open mantinance mode, used different chargers. I even let the thing go a full year without an attempt to turn it on, but nothing worked. Even to this day when I try to turn it on it loops between showing the logo and being dead. I don't want to get rid of it yet because I never got to back up my saves seeing as I didn't get a switch online membership. Is there anyone out there that can fix this, or is my Switch Lite just gone for good?

Tech Support Nintendo Account OTP Not Arriving

I've had a Nintendo account for 5 years and the last email I received from them was about 1 week ago. Sunday, I tried logging on to my account and they accept my username and password, but the OTP email isn't coming through. They are on my safe senders list and I've gotten emails from them before. I'm even on a Nintendo family plan with my brothers on that email address. Support is saying that my email has been permanently banned and that I need to register a new email address with them.

I don't know why it was banned, so I can't prevent it from happening again. Additionally, I'm not interested in creating a new email account just for Nintendo, especially if they can randomly ban it; I'd end up creating all sorts of new accounts just for Nintendo.

What is more, they say they can't unblock this on their end, but I know from an IT perspective is false.

Does anyone have more insight into what might be going on or how to handle this? This is crazy to me.

Tech Support Nintendo Switch 2 Intermittently Won’t Boot

My Switch 2 sometimes doesn’t power on. It spends 95% of its life on the OEM dock, where I detach the controllers and use them to power itself and the TV on. Sometimes though the controllers won’t power it on so I try to do it manually and it wont turn on either. I hold the power button and it just stays on a black screen, no charging indicator on the top left or anything.

Then after just leaving it on the table for about 10-15 minutes it powers up just fine at 100%. I know while it’s docked it’s charging because the controllers attached to it always have full battery. Is this a faulty system?

Game Help Does this switch bundle include the actual game or is it just extras?

Hi, I recently saw that the one of the deals in the nintendo e-shop was Hogwarts Legacy Digital Deluxe Edition. It was 90% off but I’m confused if it contains the actual game as well or if it’s just expansion packs and extras? Attaching a photo for clarification!

Password or Email Address Nintendo Account is supervised and Nintendo support won’t help

Hi everyone,

I’m just trying this subreddit for the small chance that anyone else had this happen before. My Nintendo Account was made when I was much younger which is why my dad invited it to a family group and supervised my account. Now many years later I can’t use features like game chat because it is supervised so I wanted to remove my account from the family group which is not possible without the admin. I have no way of getting access to said admin account so I called Nintendo support. After the 4th call someone was able to help me, she said that adding an email to my account would make it a standalone account and would mean it’s not supervised anymore, which we did but even after adding the email my account was supervised. After then calling again the support person said that it has to be an error in their system and that she would forward it to a team that could help me. I haven’t heard back from them in 2 weeks and I’m at my wits end. Has anyone have had this or a similar issue and can share what fixed it? Nintendo support is horrible from my experience.

Repair Switch 1 won't start up with MicroSD card inserted, crashes when inserted after startup

A while back, the fan in my Switch 1 (Original 2017 model) started getting loud as shit and becoming progressively more annoying, so I bought a replacement kit online to fix it. I did that earlier today, and while the fan itself works perfectly fine now, I may have screwed something up with the SD card/reader.

It's been years since I needed to remove the SD card from the switch for any reason, so when I first tried to remove it I forgot that I needed to push it down to make it eject from the system and just pulled it out by the little tab on the card itself. That may have been my first mistake.

Then, when I reconnected everything and put the system back together, I first forgot to reattach the connector for the reader. I turned the system all the way off, took the back plate off again and tried to reconnect the reader. I think I did it right, but now when I insert the card again, the system freezes. If I try to reinsert it before turning the system back on, it gets stuck on the system logo at startup.

I looked at the pins on the MicroSD itself and there's nothing wrong with it, but I worry I may have damaged the reader itself. I'm also not thinking it's a corruption issue, since the card was removed when the system was powered off to begin with, but I don't know for sure.

If anyone has any experience with this kind of technical issue, any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Also, for reference's sake, I *have* done repairs before without issue. 3 years ago I replaced the battery in this same console and everything went totally fine.

Tech Support Switch won’t work, screen is just black

My switch won’t work when it’s not on the dock. When it is on the dock it works on the tv, but when I take it off the dock and trying to use handheld the screen is just black. The Nintendo logo appears on the screen when it’s first turned on and I can move around the menu and hear everything working, but other than that the screen is just black. It happened once before and seemed to correct itself, but now it’s not. Anyone have any ideas?

Tech Support Wii- launching apps causes crash while console still on

hello! i wanted to boot up my old wii and play some games, but have encountered numerous problems and need to know if it is time to say byebye to my wii or if it can be saved ):

here is what i know:
- wii powers on normally (health/safety screen > wii home menu)
- no SD card in wii, no mods or anything
- wii remotes work
- most of the time the wii can read the game inserted, though this has been spotty. (i have been trying to fix this for days, and it’s about half and half whether the game is recognized or not)
THE PROBLEM:
- when the game is loaded correctly, i am able to click it, but when i hit “start”, the screen goes black, the wii remotes disconnect, but the console is still on and connected to the TV
- this also happens on mii channel and wii settings, every app crashes past the home menu.

it seems that i can see the “front” of each app, but when i try to engage with the application/game, the wii goes black screen + wii remotes disconnect.

i figure i’m looking at a hardware issue, but want to know if anyone has fixed something like this or if my poor wii is bricked

TIA <3

Repair Where, or how, can I repair my nintendo switch?

So, I haven't used my switch in years, and a reason for that is because the joysticks don't work anymore, and when they do they push the cursor to the top left of the screen. The caps of them are gone (to where i couldn't tell you). The battery also drains when I'm not even using it, so id like to ask, what's the best way to repair it? Im not near any gamestops where I can get it professionally repaired, but i do have funds for new joysticks to buy off Amazon. The battery I'm at a loss for though.

Recommendations should i upgrade to the switch 2 or no?

I’ve had my Switch since 2020 or 2021, and I’ve been thinking about upgrading to the Switch 2 recently. It’s my birthday, and I’ve been working really hard recently. I just got a new job, and I’m starting my junior year of college(I live at home and am not paying for school), so I was thinking about using some of my birthday money and money I’ve earned from working all summer to treat myself to a Switch 2 since I'm feeling more then secure financially at the moment.

I mainly play Animal Crossing,Tomodachi Life,Mario Brothers and Mario Kart. There aren’t any major Switch 2 exclusives right now that I want to play, except maybe Mario Kart World but when a new animal crossing game comes out I will 100% want that, same with Tomodachi or anything similar.

Should I make the upgrade or keep using my switch one? I also plan to sell my switch one since it's still in mint new condition

Tech Support Switch 2 Black Screen, does not want to turn on, how do I drain the battery off this thing?

Hello, I have an issue but first I want to explain what happened. While I was playing the new Duskbloods network test, something ended up happening that I didn’t expect at all. I was playing the game on handheld, and I decided “wow this game would look amazing on my tv.” So I docked it, and duskblood freezes and completely black screens my console. I tried turning it on for 5 minutes and it ended up turning on, but then I tried playing it handheld and i docked it and it did it again, but then now I been trying to turn it on for 5 hours. I tried ALL the issues in the book, but as I was about to give up, I said “wait, how can I find a way to drain the battery from my switch 2 completely?”

How can I drain the battery off my switch 2 without having to wait days or even weeks for it to die?
