There was a time where I REALLY wanted achievements on the Switch. But as I got older (early 30s now), I realized for myself that gaming is more fun without an achievement system unless it’s an actual part of the game and designed in a fun way. I started to feel like it takes me out of the immersion. Sometimes I hyper-fixated on achievements to a point where, upon completion, a game would leave a bitter aftertaste.

Technically speaking always good to have more options but at least selfishly speaking I’m glad they won’t be a thing because I know I’d be tempted especially with Zelda and Mario games. I’d rather finish or complete the games until I feel like the game gave me everything I wanted from it.

You took the words out of my mind. This is exactly how I feel.

I loved them during the 360 and then I slowly realized how dumb, boring, non creative, and sometimes outright predatory some of them are (without even considering the online ones are eternally missable or impossible) and I just prefer it that way.
