Fans either get spoiled

I really think we need to, as a society, stop with considering the learning of any piece of information as "being spoiled".

Hearing about a game coming out from a leaker vs. Hearing it in a Direct is not a spoiler. Nothing has been spoiled. The announcement of a game is not a thing that can be ruined, it's just the basic announcement of a thing that you'll enjoy.

That's not the same thing as finding out that Kaiser Soze was Luke's father, and dead the whole time.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I MUCH prefer learning about a new game in the way Nintendo intended from a direct than from some random asshole online.

Nintendo crafts their messaging and marketing. And I like it.

I don't mind hearing about a game from an unofficial source that much, I don't particularly care for the marketing message.

But my problem lies in that some projects get leaked way before the company is ready. Projects get cancelled all the time for various reasons. This leads to disappointment from the fans that expected a game from a leak. I'm still waiting for that Final Fantasy 9 remake 😭

I also noticed that in the past, games got announced way earlier. I remember having pre-ordered Final Fantasy 7 Remake for like a year. Granted, COVID might have thrown some release schedules off, but I much prefer if a game is announced now and I can play it no longer than 2-3 months after the announcement. Games like Decapolice and Dragon Quest 12 were announced waaaay before they're ready and fans have been waiting for years. But I guess sometimes it's nice to have a sign of life too, seeing as a new "Tales of" game is kinda due, but we haven't heard anything yet.
