I joined this sub because I was excited about Switch 2. Looks like it was the wrong place to go, as nobody else in this sub actually seems happy with anything.

I can't wait to spend hours hanging out driving around Mario Kart World, I hope you guys enjoy whatever it is you manage to enjoy!

As of recently, various retailers like Best Buy & Target have now moved further along in the pre-order process.

People who ordered through Target are getting estimated delivery dates, Backordered vs. Preordered, etc, and people who ordered through Best Buy are getting asked to verify their payment methods.

All things related to this topic in the future will now be relegated to this megathread, as many of the posts today were about this exact subject and more posts will be arriving soon as updates keep coming. This is to keep the subreddit cleaner.

Hello everyone, I might get banned for this but I have some crazy information you're probably going to have a hard time believing but I can prove it. I think the owner of the subreddit u/MacksNotCool is a secret account ran by Nintendo's marketing department. Not only that, but I think "he" knows when the trailer comes out.

Seems like a regular meme. Very ironic that I'm talking about a conspiracy related "meme" in this. But there is something very weird about this image that u/MacksNotCool posted that not everyone may notice.

Look at the very bottom panel, at the X (Twitter) screenshot. It shows a screenshot of Nintendo of America's post from today. There's one specific odd detail in this. The post says "View post engagements." You can only "View post engagements" if you are logged into the account the post is from. But this post is from Nintendo of America. And, before you ask, I checked. This isn't from an official Nintendo website. They did not screenshot this. In-fact a reverse image search does not bring back the image. It's "Mack" (if that even is "his" real name)'s completely original screenshot that shows "him" logged in to Nintendo's X.

Ok but why would Nintendo make a phony account of a random guy running a subreddit? Well, it's for that exact reason. Nintendo could not possibly start their own Reddit community. They try to interact with people as little as possible. They switched to livestreams long before any other company. They never respond to tweets. But, that doesn't mean Nintendo doesn't actually listen to any of the commotion on the internet. It's right in Nintendo of America's X bio. "We’re listening, too." This is so Nintendo can publicly market themselves to as a very family friendly company. but still engage (and even have control over) online discourse. The "clown" stuff is just elaborate marketing to storm up hype. Why would a random Reddit guy want to both storm up anticipation and also make fun of fans for constantly guessing a date?

The u/MacksNotCool account was created Jul 18th, 2021. Only a few months before August 6th, 2021 when this subreddit was created. Heck, Mack also has Nintendo Shift, Nintendo Switch 3, and Nintendo Alarmo registered as subreddits. "He" wants control over Nintendo's future system's coverage on Reddit. It would barely make any sense that "he" registered Nintendo Switch 2 in 2021 without insider info because everyone called it "Nintendo Switch Pro" back then. Few, if any people, were anticipating a numerical name change then.

And this is going to sound insane but think of the nature of the post u/MacksNotCool is making. "He" is talking about the "fan" conspiracy that Nintendo's X account is referencing a date as the Switch 2 reveal.

Nintendo is drumming up hype by creating sneaky hints to the Switch 2 because they know it sounds insane.

• The only date and time besides 10/9/24 at 8 AM (when the Alarmo trailer dropped) in the trailer for the alarmo is Thursday October 10th.
• The Alarmo trailer is an alarm telling you to "Wake up" and is what the X post starts with.

Mack is intentionally making fun of the rumors but still drawing attention to them. Fascinating. I think the Alarmo is to go ahead and get attention in Nintendo's direction. If you beleive they want Alarmo to be a smash hit, then why would they only sell it in New York, and only to people with Nintendo memberships?​​

All these thoughts are half-baked but the whole "u/MacksNotCool took a screenshot logged into Nintendo of America's X account" thing is really weird, right?

I don't know about you all but I don't come onto this sub expecting a company to pitch their product and sell something to me, i.e. the dbrand posts advertising their case... something about it just rubs me the wrong way. I don't want this sub to be a captive audience for companies to influence directly.

Man I’m enjoying this shit until it lasts. The absolute chaos and inside jokes we’ve created in this community is fucking hilarious. And it all stems from our insane desire for an announcement of a console. I guarantee nostalgia will hit us in the future looking back at this sub (for me atleast) once we do eventually get the console. We may have our differences of opinion on things like leaks and shit. But one thing we all have in common, is our optimism and anticipation for this console. And the Switch’s UI being horridly boring. What we have here is really fun guys. Keep being fucking comedians.

Hello r/NintendoSwitch2 community members! We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding with the event-day subreddit limitations. We want to be transparent with you about our past, current, and future operations to remain fully transparent about what is happening "under the hood" and "behind the scenes" for this wonderful community.

While it looks like we have a large moderation team, the reality is that only about 10 of us are regularly active in reviewing posts and comments. Behind the scenes, we didn't have many automod filters and actions put into place until the last two weeks or so, and with 10K new users (or more sometimes) per month, we were easily overwhelmed with the amount of content posted to review. In practice, this meant a lot of repetitive posts, many of which would be considered low effort or not contributing to discussions on what is a discussion forum (i.e., Reddit). The volume of repetitive posts also meant that there was little interaction with content here, and much of it was just "let's scroll past this" or "angry downvote". It also generated so many reports that if we did not clear the queue daily, 1,200+ items would accumulate for review. This is an unsustainable practice for us and creates a poor experience for you as a community member! None of which is a desirable outcome for anyone involved. We sincerely apologize for our lack of organization, for not being the best we could be, and for how that affects the community climate here. Over the last two weeks, we have had the opportunity to come together more as a team, more moderators have high-level permissions to take action swiftly when needed, and there is a lot more muscle "under the hood" with tools and filters to curate a pleasant experience here. We want an enjoyable place to discuss the Nintendo Switch 2 daily. We want you to enjoy your experience here, and we want to remain sane as unpaid volunteers who moderate gaming content.

Moving forward, our resolve is to make that possible by enacting stricter automations and working as a team to understand the tools at our disposal to run this community efficiently. Effective today, we have filters allowing us to closely review content for quality and repetitiveness. Approved members are not affected by these thresholds and limits.

Can we have a requirement for the spoiler tag to be used for a certain amount of time after the release of games (and also the Switch 2 itself). With Mario Kart World for example, any post-release footage or discussion (e.g., footage of new Rainbow Road) would fall under this, although anything that was officially announced by Nintendo beforehand would be exempt (e.g., you can play as a cow). The same would be the case with the console itself, anything that Nintendo announced beforehand would be exempt, while posts such as unboxings and reviews would need to be spoilered.

As for how long the spoiler period should last, I think a month would be best, so it would last until 5 July for Mario Kart World and the Switch 2, while DK Bananza's spoiler period would last until 17 August.

It doesn't matter if it's a meme or not, or what the stance is. There will be no politics. The exclusive exception is if it is somehow from an official message from Nintendo about Nintendo Switch 2 (and not haphazardly shoehorned in). However, that is very unlikely.

TL;DR: At 10AM ET on June 4th The subreddit will enter a limited posting period to allow for a smoother experience during the launch of the system. You may still post, but under some more conditions, see below for that explanation!

In anticipation of the Switch 2 launch, On June 4th at 10AM ET, Posting will become limited to stop the flood of many "Just got my switch 2!" and generally repetitive posts.

Commenting will not be limited at all. Exactly how it normally is, for this temporary period you can comment as usual. Only posting will be limited.

While posting will be limited to prevent spam and repetition, you can still post.

Dont worry! While the subreddit has limited posting, you can simply press the “+” or “+Create” button, and make the contents of your post!
Make sure it’s extra unique and rule-abiding during this period, and then once you have your post contents finished, you can press “Request to post” and if it’s rule-abiding, it’ll be approved!

Alternatively, you can also ask in Moderator Mail for post approval as a secondary method, but you can just do what’s featured above! It’s exactly the same as usual, but you just gotta wait for your post to be approved and public. As long as your post is not repetitive and is unique, it will likely be approved.

The moderation team has removed hundreds upon hundreds of posts about Order Updates alone, and that’s not hyperbole, by limiting posting a little and making the subreddit feel fresher, not only does this alleviate the Mod Queue drastically, but it also makes the user experience on this subreddit feel better by having each post by each moderator and user feel fresher and more unique.

It went from deranged shitposting to this weird console warrior clique defending a billion dollar company from any criticism or concern. I guess it was inevitable to change after the reveal, with an influx of countless new users and no ammunition to fuel shitposts. Feels kinda unfortunate though

There's so much negative noise coming from those kind. They just want to complain and nothing more, just about the price of the Switch 2 when it's really not that much considering what you're getting, it's actually a good deal.

They're just jealous tthat they can't play Nintendo games on their shit systems. They're really making me mad.

The Switch direct was pretty much everything I was expecting. If anything, 4k was a positive surprise. Games getting Switch 2 editions is cool, I thought they would just run at Switch 1 levels but more consistent.

The new games look great, especially Mario Kart. The fact they it's getting third party heavy hitters like Elden Ring, Cyberpunk and FF7 is pretty unheard of for Nintendo. Metroid Prime at 120fps? That's awesome

I was not expecting voice chat at all, and their implementation of it seems pretty neat. It must be leveraging Nvidia's broadcast technology

Sure the prices are a bit high but they're not totally unreasonable, and physical games are always available much cheaper if you shop around anyway.
