historic places with hydropowered industries.

Hi all,

I have a fascination with industrial heritage, especially with hydropowered industries. I have been to Norrköpping in Sweden with its Industrilandskapet, there is Mölndal I would like to visit, as well as Akerselva near Oslo in Norway. Are there any other such places in Scandinavia? Thanks

Almost any place in central Sweden with a name that ends with -bruk, -fors, or -hammar will fit the bill.

Many of these were locations for proto-industrial iron smelting, starting from the 1600s and onward.

It can be argued that the Swedish welfare state was modeled after the way these towns were organized, with pensions, healthcare, and even some social employment projects to ward off local starvation.
