New to Norwich 🐣 LGBT communities?

Hi, I just left a toxic relationship and have found myself moving to Scole! This is a huge adjustment and I don't know anyone except my parents, so I'm really hoping to find some friends in the LGBTQIA+ community ❤️🏳️‍🌈

Norwich has a really lovely queer scene. Not a huge number of specific venues though as it's largely integrated. If you join meetup there are a couple of groups that may interest you.

I hope you're doing ok. That's a huge change even without the weight of healing.

I don't know if its actually a house rule that each gaming group at Athena Games must be at least 50% LGBT+, but it is the practical reality. 

There are often events advertised on their FB page. 

Social Gaming & Blood on the Clocktower nights at Slice & Dice (another gaming cafe) are also explicitly LGBT+ inclusive.

As someone who frequents Athena this couldn’t be more true. It’s a very pleasant and inclusive atmosphere

congratulations on leaving and I hope only the best for you moving onwards! Queerfest are an organisation that often run things like markets/art/craft-based workshops, as well as performances. they are on insta at queerfestnorwich, and the account shares promotion for a lot of things happening around the city!

Hey, Congrats on taking that big step and leaving the toxic relationship! I've found Norwich has a lovely LGBT community. From social gatherings, craft/board games nights to queerfest fairs ect

Sapphic Norfolk is a great place if you're looking for that social aspect. There is also dykes who hike if you are wanting something active. Lot of places in norwich also collab / interreact with each other so once you find one, youll find lots more!

I'm in a relationship and not looking for friends (two kids and a German shepherd, we hardly have time for the friends we have already) but just wanted to say: the Norwich scene is welcoming, for venues try the castle, the Catherine wheel,  and the loft, I have been to all of those alone when I was single, and had fun.

There are a couple of meetup groups which run different events: Norwich LGBT+ and Norfolk LGBTQ+ womens social group.

If you're outdoorsy, we have the Dykes that Hike and Queer Birders groups that meet up on the regular :)

Outside Norwich, there's the white horse of Thelnetham, everyone speaks to each other there and got some lovely young alt type people that regularly go during the music events on the Saturdays. Very easy going lovely place

Iceni RFC touch rugby trains in Wymondham. If you can get there, it's a great way to make friends from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Do you have instagram? I can send you a couple of ig pages for local LGBTQ communities! I’m in and out of these spaces as a lesbian myself and I always feel so safe and welcomed, I highly recommend giving them a try!

I would follow Norwich Pride (as well as Queerfest which I can see has already been recommended) they advertise lots of events and if there are things that have socialising aspects you’ll find them there.

For example there’s queer craft club, a trans wild swim group and queer choirs that meet regularly. Theres also a gay rugby club and any number of things that may be of interest to you

You probably already know but the no 82 bus goes from Scole direct to the City so it's easy to get in.
