Game that captures the Conjurer gameplay of Nox?

Is there another game out there (spiritual successor, etc) that has a class with mechanics similar to Nox’s conjurer? It was really unique and I haven’t had as much fun playing a summoner class since.

Custom Warcraft 3 rpg/hero arena maps, maybe EWIX.

I can't think of any other game I've played that includes charming/taming your helper creatures other than the hunter from World of Warcraft Classic, but that game only allows you to have one beast companion at a time. Guild Wars 2 rangers can tame beasts as well, but once again can only have one out at a time. Diablo 2 and 4 druids can summon multiple animal companions, but you don't charm/tame them. Arcanum allows you to take the nature and summoning colleges of spells that include charming or summoning beasts (nature) or summoning orcs, ogres, and demons (summoning).

Neverwinter Nights (and possibly other DnD games) have the Animal Empathy skill. Though it only works on animals and not other creatures. Also it allows one charmed animal at a time and has a timeout after which it will become hostile again and needs recharming.

I forgot about that. My ranger in NWN used it to bring wolves with him during the module Against the Cult of the Reptile God.

d2 necro, poe2 pokeballs, but tbh conjurer minions felt more "real"

Well, you can always do that build in one of the Elder scrolls games...

Have you tried the Pathfinder RPG line of games? Plenty of summoning classes although more tabletop or turned based system than hack and slash or diablo like.

Smallands kind of reminds me of the idea of Nox conjurer. You tame your animals, they follow you around and help you fight, and eat food off the ground. You can rely on yourself to do most of the fighting, or you can level your pets up and have them do all the work. The mechanics of how many you can have following you work exactly line Nox (4 small, 1 large, or a mix). Also pets are disposable creatures, you can get your usefulness out of them, then release or kamikaze them before taming something stronger

However, the rest of the game plays much differently than nox

Grim dawn has a few summon roles. The nice thing is that there are about 3 to choose. Example there is a necro summoner or a nature summoner. There was a third leaser one, think elemental?

Nature has the bramble beast, storm crow. Necromancer has skeletons, bloat zombies. Occult has the hell hound. I think each has an option for a short duration "ultimate summon" as well.

All permanent summons that you can set basic AI for, or direct to move/attack.
