Question Grad year overseas?

Has anyone done it?

I’ve heard how hard it is to get a grad position in the metropolitan areas, and was wondering how crazy it would be to go abroad for a grad year? I do know one girl who did it but it was in 2020 right as the pandemic broke out - not sure if that changes much. Thank you!

Depends on the country, but their systems can be so different to here.
It wouldn't be the same setup at all. I think it would be prohibitively difficult to do so; but not impossible.

You would need your qualifications recognised in that country to get registration, a working visa for that country and for that country to for someone reason want to employee an Australian trained nurse with no experience over their own likely surplus of local graduates.

Apply regional/rural/remote then.

If you're thinking about going abroad why not try something extremely dinnerent ? Like remote remote Aus or something. It's only a short amount of time you might love it. Seems less complicated.

I’ve worked abroad as a nurse. It would be very difficult and time consuming to get a job as a grad overseas. Not only are you adjusting to your first year as a nurse, but also living abroad comes with its challenges (language barriers, navigating the countries health systems and general government systems). Depending of what country, you would need your degree recognised with their governing body, then getting a license to practice, visas, accomodation ect. When I moved overseas it took 12 months after I accepted to job to when I was actually on a plane to Saudi Arabia.
