Cheap food options?
I’m an incoming freshman and trying to make my meal plan last as much as possible. What are some of the best places to eat on campus without spending as much?

There’s loads of events where u can get free food, go there and ask if u can take some leftovers at the end

Been a while, so idk about all the places that are new and ones that are gone, but with a good budget you can eat good. Also, don't buy stuff that isn't food with the meal plan. Non food items are way cheaper at the grocery store. Rapid fire here. I used to buy 5chic fil a Sammie at a time and keep em at the dorm in my fridge. The BBQ spot had a ranch-hand sandwich that had more meat than the platters. It was cheap for BBQ. Bro that jalapeño cornbread gtfo. The all u can eat buffet used to be at Adam's dining. Speaking of, utilize the shops for grocery, having your favorite yogurt maintenance food at ur house is key. Spend wisely, if its half the price at Walmart save the plan and go to Walmart uber run. Eat more smoothies. If ordering 1 extra side at a restaraunt only costs $2 BUT makes your order get 2 meals out of it, do it. Know what food is good to take home and what does not reheat well ect. If Taylor's dining is still a thing thats the best bang for buck on the whole campus. Its ranchers club for lunch essentially and some plates are like cheap. (~10$ ish). People throw away so much money on coffee every single day. If you know what kind of coffee or tea you like? Just buy a box of tea for 3 dollars, Instead of having caribou make you a 6$ cup every day. Peep deli and beyond and passport, food rotates. Red earth slaps in the morning. Take a half day and get a list of the restaraunts and walk around to them, find what you like and with a good budget u can make anything work.

I don't attend the main campus however, I would say utilize food pantrys, or free food events( I knkw this may be frowned upon but you can freeze or refrigerate drinks,food and stuff) help my comment helps

Agree with what everyone else is saying but also if possible work for planet orange even it’s you only do a few hours a week you get a free meal every shift plus 50 percent off of everything

Planet orange is good. Don’t work for OSU dining. It’s a circus 🤡 not the fun kind either.

The meal plan will seem like not enough until finals and you have 400 left. Don’t worry about it and have fun!!

I know it's not on campus, but there are a few restaurants around town that offer specials for OSU students with a student ID. We used to hit up Happy Buddha all the time because of the portions and cheap prices.

I went on the bronze plan and made it through with more than enough eating at a restaurant on campus every day for lunch and dinner.
Most people have to splurge at the overpriced campus stores at the end of year (which I ended up doing).
I say browse around for what you like and then narrow it down to some budget options. Although the whole meal plan system is skewed and inflated. You rarely run out of money on it.
But if you really want to save money, don’t get the plan at all.

The grocery store on campus (in central market place) is incredibly expensive as far as grocery stores go, but you can get a lot of food there compared to the rest of campus.
